I am the artist of Whetstone10. I joined on this project because I loved the characters and story. I consider Tavia to be a strong female lead. After her life is turned upside down during a modern worldwide apocalypse, she is able to get back on her feet and seek vengeance against those responsible. As intense as she can be, she still has a compassionate, sensible side that makes her very human. The story is still being released so you will get to know more about her as time goes on.
Don't Be A Hero4 by @Greg_Dickson has a pretty good one. Gemini is super badass.
Centralia 20503 also has a good one.
Usually, I would sneak in a plug of my own comic, but my female lead (Elena) is more snarky and sarcastic than strong... but if that's fine, it's called Friends or Lovers?2
My comic Aetherwar9's main character is Liz. And she's a lot stronger than she looks. (fantasy, steampunk, harry potterish, lovecraftian cthulhuian - themes)
Sword Interval2 at webtoons also has a really cool female lead.
I've got something for you:
My comic Light and Dark9 has a female lead and a mostly female suppoting cast. I've spent a lot of time getting varied and deep personalities to these characters so I hope I don't dissapoint:
Lit tid bit of the lore of this comic by the way: In my comic's fictional world Women have always been in equal standing to men since the bronze age, mostly due to the fictional religion I've created for this fictional world (Hell no one even questions it) so I hope to show off some cool female leaders, warriors, generals/admirals, you name it we got it. I hope to be able to get to that soon!
Thank you so much @indagold !!
I also recommend The Sisters2 and Damsels Don't Wear Glasses2!
But I have more recommendations-- Dungeon Princess3 is catching up to its tumblr host, but, that one's about a princess of Hell who has to compete in a tournament! There's also Saffron and Sage2, which was recently mentioned by the creator of Cassiopeia Quinn!
My webcomic Comicide4 has two female protagonists. In fact, aside from a nonbinary person, a supporting male character, and a villain, right now all the characters in Comicide are female.
It's about the judicial system of the afterlife, and its current legislator who has to deal with her strange coworkers, entering people's minds, emotions that can become sentient, and Lovecraftian monsters.
This list reminds me of how much webcomic catching up I have to do.
Neon Rabbit2
Suihira7
In Blood of Color5
@XIII5
Pretzel 2 Meet U3
Recently I read Space Boy4 which is a Line exclusive.
And finally, shameless plug for my own comic: Knights5
Thanks for suggesting Centralia! <3 I put a lot of importance on ensuring Midori is a strong female lead, though that's ultimately for readers to decide.
Runewriters6 is also a good one! The female protag is so determined and endearing :> It's especially nice to see more stories featuring disabled characters in the main cast.
Well my comic is still in its early stages, but it does feature a female lead. How strong she will be only time will tell.
I Work Part-time...IN HELL! 2
I'd recommend mine. I'm new here so I haven't been around much to recommend others since I'm only subscribed to like one other comic right now and focused on just finishing and uploading my stuff.
But mine has two strong female leads. It's a horror/scifi/superheroineish comic.
I write one with a strong female lead called (Semi) Super8 all about super powered people trying less than their best haha.
And self promotion aside
Hey Sister4 is really good! But it hasn't updated in awhile D:
My Chinese is no good ...8 Was also one that I loved, since it was like a real story and it's complete which is nice. This comic is really dynamic and appealing visually, and the story, for a lack of better words was 'warm', it felt personal and open and was quite informative actually. One of my favorites.
This is mine https://tapastic.com/series/A-Crimson-Star5 ,
My female characters are strong and powerful, but it is not to make them "strong" is just their personality.
Jen is the protagonist and I suppose yes, she is a "strong woman"
My own comic Megami Shiizun3 features strong female leads. There's a lot of character development as time goes on and they all discover things along the way about the people around them and themselves.
There's also Shanties4 that I really love. It looks to be a fantasy/adventure type of story, plus the artwork is really beautiful. I like all the fantasy creatures. It has a good balance of dark and light story telling. I'm looking forward to the next pages.
Fantomestein and Brain Damage come to mind immediately as far as what I read on a regular basis.
Fantomestein2 is based off the books Phantom of the Opera and Frankenstein, and wonderfully fleshes out Christine as a complex person who is determined to be in control of her own life and to save the people she loves from any harm. None of ALW's damsel in distress nonsense, which is refreshing as someone who has enjoyed POTO for over a decade.
Brain Damage3 is about a woman who learns of her terminal illness and is assigned an 'afterlife advisor'. It has really delved into the life of a career woman who is attempting to keep her life intact even in the face of death. Chapter 2 is ending soon, I think?
And if you'd like to read my comic, Heart Hex2, it's about a woman who, after being cheated on, summons a demon to get revenge, and the consequences of her actions as the story goes on. Chapter 1 just finished, and Chapter 2 will start posting in May!
My comic Hot Metal Miami2 has strong female leads. It's about the rise and fall of a group of girls in 80s Miami after a vendetta entangles them into the cocaine business, as well as a sinister conspiracy. Currently in the midst of Part 2, it's starting to get...heated...
