Webtoons stats tanking - anyone knows what's going on?

Thanks. I've been going so hard at this for two years now. Between the time of writing, drawing, collaborating with a couple other people, it is an enormous tank on time and major stress.

Unfortunately, the only way out is through - our production is slow. I will probably have to hire an inker to speed up page production and get the first "book" done to give Amazon a shot.

Getting people's attention is almost impossible. I read, research, listen... I have no idea how to catch that lightning in a bottle. Quality, apparently, doesn't matter.

On Tapas, we have made a total of 44 dollars in ad revenue and tips in the past two years. The investment has been over 5K.

Unless a miracle happens. I will finish the first book, drop it out there, and stop. There's just smarter ways to invest money and energy.

It does seem daunting... We are trying out cross-promo and ads on TopWebcomics.com next month, and we'll see how that goes... But when it comes to webcomics it seems a smart idea to not put all our eggs in the same basket and diversify. Patreon, Ko-fi, Paypal donate, merchandise, paid NSFW content, etc etc.. It's certainly a big investment of time and money if you're not doing it for yourself as a hobby!

Don't forget that Webtoons is launching a lot of new and atractive comics. Some users might prefer to read the new stuff. I also started to pile up the comics I'm suscribed to, since I enjoy to read many episodes at a time. Maybe other readers are doing the same.

Well... I've been reading this thread for 45 minutes, and ended up finding out some interesting stuff about Webtoons. And now I've got even more reasons to maybe NOT post some of my comics there... Anyway, Tapas always felt like " home " lol

We've extensively used TWC ads and would recommend just going with the $1 daily sponsorship and Google AdWords. Your CPC will be 1/5th the rate that they charge for their leaderboard, square, and skyscraper ads.

I guess it depends what making webcomics is to you! When I get down about the numbers, the time spent or the money spent on materials, ads, etc, I remind myself that at the heart of it I just wanted to make a story with my best friend and have a creative project to occupy my time. While it would be fabulous to become an overnight success, the amount of readers or money made really didn't factor into our decision to make a comic. 5k over 2 years is less than some people spend on their own hobbies like shopping or clubbing, going to plays or on ski trips. If you have fun doing your comic, that's what matters. But it is sounding like you see it more as a chore, a losing investment and a source of stress and disappointment. If that's the case, there's indeed better ways to invest your money and energy - into something that makes you happy.

By the way guys, since we're all talking about followers/subs increasing and decreasing, the possible existence of bots on the website, etc etc. I just wanted to tell you guys... I don't have much audience, and normally 2 or 3 people comment my stuff. But is it normal that ALL of them will often change their names? Like, they are constantly changing their names, almost every 2 weeks... maybe I'm just being weird about it because, maybe it's completely normal, but I don't know, I just wanted to share this I guess... sorry if I sound dumb lol :V

Well, I kind of notice when they comment the next comics and I'm like " Oh wow, a new person " but then I'll just go see the comment from the previous comic post and I'm like " Oh, no... it's the same person ". It's kind of easy to remember their names if they are only 2 or 3 XD

Do you mean on Webtoons or Tapas? Is the name change retroactive? Cause if not, I don't understand how you even realize it's the same person :o They don't even have profile icons...

On Webtoons xDD. Yes, at least on them it is retroactive xDD, I mean, I don't know if there's a on/off switch xDD, but when they change names, it'll automatically appear as their most recent on all their past comments.

Oh! I had no clue! Mine have kept the same names as far as I know. I don't have a whole lot either but I've seen some of these names since the beginning a year ago.. Miraculous Butterfly, CabinKitty, Okami-dono...
I guess they just like changing their names ^^'''' Bots don't interact, they don't leave likes and especially not comments. These are real people!
