I say finish them! It seems you're in a situation of doing the comic for your readers vs. doing the comic for you. You're feeling pressured because your readers have been waiting a long time. But I don't think you actually owe them anything... And if you're having personal issues then you really don…

The time when I did a class oral presentation with the zipper of my pants down and gaping open comes to mind...

The way I see it, you've got nothing to lose. The audience is larger on Webtoons, but on Tapas they engage more. There's nothing to lose by posting on both sites. Personally if there is even 1 person that read me here, I would keep posting for them.

I have a full-time job and update only 1 page every week on Monday. People on Webtoons have been very understanding and supportive! I got 3-4 times maybe a comment along the lines of "ugnnnhhh this is so good, I wish it was longer!" but it was said like this very nicely, and when I answer that I wor…

We've had our 1 year anniversary recently  We started posting the first monday of January 2017! Not on Tapas though, we've only been here a few months... Here's to another wonderful year to come!

I listen to a relaxing chill mix (anything gets my heart pumping too fast, I'm kind of an anxious person ^^''') Sometimes on Saturday mornings, I watercolor the page while watching my writer Brani play a videogame over Skype. It's fun!

Brani and I have just contacted them for our first ad campaign. We spent a small amount and figure we'll see how it goes and decide what we do from there

Ads are just what it sounds like: you buy a spot on a website for an ad about your comic to play, getting more people's attention. It is the only one of my suggestions that is not free though. Project Wonderful is a place specifically to buy ads for comics, it lists various websites and you have to …

There's many ways to get your comic out there, other than just crossing your fingers. Some of them include: Participate in the forums, in different comic communities, make author friends, etc. Being active in the community gives more opportunities for people to find you. Your tapas forum profile …

Free pizza at work today!

Recently we reuploaded our chapter 1 and 2 so that they're all in a single chapter each instead of separate pages, and I took this opportunity to go back and fix small things. Mostly, in the first few pages my speech bubbles and the way I formatted the text was slightly different than how I do it no…

You make money on your own full-time job that is separate from comics. Comics are not your business, you said yourself that it is your hobby. A hobby is something you do for fun and self-satisfaction, not to please others. If you truly think that, it's incredibly sad. And yes the topic is about wh…

Speak for yourself, not for all authors. I think a GREAT many of them would absolutely disagree with that. I don't know who you're talking about when you're saying but it's certainly neither you nor I. I checked out your comic and your very last update is a hiatus notice stating that you've ha…

Well the original intent of this thread was simply to ask if other people had had a drop in their stats if anyone knew what was going on. There's been a lot of other talk since about the platform, but on the whole people are just expressing concerns. You make it sound simple when saying it's "a busi…

That's only if you want to make it in the comic industry at any price. Personally I don't really feel like working on romance comedy slice of life fluff piece, and I have a well-paying full-time studio job so I don't have to. Someone who wants to be a professional Webtooner, then yeah sure that's go…

Oh! I had no clue! Mine have kept the same names as far as I know. I don't have a whole lot either but I've seen some of these names since the beginning a year ago.. Miraculous Butterfly, CabinKitty, Okami-dono... I guess they just like changing their names ^^'''' Bots don't interact, they don't lea…

Do you mean on Webtoons or Tapas? Is the name change retroactive? Cause if not, I don't understand how you even realize it's the same person :o They don't even have profile icons...

I'm curious to know how you even know that they change their names :o We don't have access to subscribers lists on Webtoons.

I guess it depends what making webcomics is to you! When I get down about the numbers, the time spent or the money spent on materials, ads, etc, I remind myself that at the heart of it I just wanted to make a story with my best friend and have a creative project to occupy my time. While it would be …

I'm working on this piece for a fanart exchange with the author of Gemini Twilight! [image]

I'm 26, been out of college for... it'll be 3 years in June I guess! I was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. I studied visual arts for 2 years, then did another degree in film animation. Film animation was a 3 years program but I ended up doing it in 5... Stuff happened! I was lucky and found…

I think the situation on Youtube and Webtoons are quite different. On Youtube, these changes are coming right on the heels of all the trouble they've had this year. Companies have complained about their ads running on inappropriate content and many major corporations have pulled their ads, making Yo…

It does seem daunting... We are trying out cross-promo and ads on TopWebcomics.com next month, and we'll see how that goes... But when it comes to webcomics it seems a smart idea to not put all our eggs in the same basket and diversify. Patreon, Ko-fi, Paypal donate, merchandise, paid NSFW content, …

I'm sorry to hear about your situation... It's really awful considering what effort you obviously put into it  But do hold on for the features! I've just started a few cross-promotions and it has already helped! I gained for the first time since October, and I'm sure you will too! The situation …

In the photo example you gave, all the buildings are very far away so you could get away with drawing pretty much only the lights for the detailing! That's what I'd do  I find that to simplify backgrounds, you have to go with the main structure over any textures. Textures can make buildings look v…

This is digital so you can hold shift when drawing a line with the brush to draw a perfectly straight line  Better than a ruler!

Hello! Brani and I make a high fantasy / crime comic called Shadows in the Library!

I'm lucky enough to work with a wonderful partner who does the writing, so everything is very detailed and laid out for me! Brani works in a very organic way, he has so many ideas and seems unorganized but he has it all straight in his head like an encyclopedia! Our series is a long one comprised of…

A thousand times yes, I agree so much! As the illustrator in a writer/artist team, I can say that the balancing act is not always easy and I wouldn't be able to do it with anyone but Brani! We actually met on Deviantart when he was looking for an artist to turn his novels in comic. I wrote him a l…

Such a beautiful style! o
