What is the inspiration behind your art style? Did you watch your favorite series and then adding them into your style? If so, what’s the anime that inspired it?

For me: One Piece, Demon Slayer, and Attack on Titans. The art styles are so unique and I want my work to reflect them, but adding my own spin to it. :sob:

My style is a weird mix of series I used to read/watch when I was a teenager  The main influence would probably be FullMetal Alchemist, but also Kenshin, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Shaman King, .hack//sign, Ranma 1/2 and Oh My Goddess (with that last one- I only read one volume of it; I bought it in a tiny store when I was in elementary school and referenced it A LOT in my early drawings).
Some of those are very barely visible in my style, however each taught me some different things when it comes to drawing so it would be unfair to leave them out c:
Some other inspirations for me were Berserk and Monster, however there are more subtle as by the time I read those I already had quite an estabilished artstyle.

Well, mine is mostly inspired on Kiyo Qjo's art. There is a lot of art styles that I like but I think Kiyo's the most noticeable one.

Well, I use modern anime mostly. I study the various acclaimed series, of course, and their expressions. I take elements of different styles, from Dragon Ball to Haikyuu, but the range of them is too vast to explain.

Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist is a massive influence for me. The way she gives her characters depth and mass is just... wow, she's amazing!

I also love the work of Kiyohiko Azuma on Azumanga Daioh and Yotsubato! His work really influenced how I draw simplified, comedic expressions, and especially how I time my comedy.

Then there's of course Bryan Lee O'Malley, particularly the Scott Pilgrim series, which had a huge influence on both how I draw and panel comedy, but especially how I draw and panel action.

Stuart Immonen is probably my favourite superhero artist. I aspire to his bold, readable figures and clear action. I love his work on stuff like "All New X-Men" and "Nextwave: Agents of Hate".

And finally... Tetstuya Nomura, who, sure I can pretend his character designs on the Final Fantasy series didn't burrow their way into my brain, but it'd be a massive lie because it's really obvious just by looking at how I design and even proportion characters that I'm heavily influenced by him! :sweat_02:

Do you have any links or books you recommend to me? I need help with character designs. :chocolate_bar:

I am somewhat inspired by Dragon Ball. I am not talking about DBZ, I am talking about the one with kid Goku where the art sytle looked softer and cuter.

My artstyle for 'Age I- Age of Darkness' was mainly inspired by Hirohiko Araki and his work on Jojo's. I'd say the part that influenced my aestethic the most is part 5/6, although I gradually started developing a style of my own. I was also influenced a bit by Kohei Horikhoshi (mha mangaka), especially when it comes to hands and facial expressions; and Hajime Isayama in terms of toning, layout, etc.

Before getting into manga and anime, though, my main sources of inspiration were cartoons such as Adventure Time and Wakfu (one of my characters doesn't have a nose because it's sort of a tribute to my old artstyle).

inb4 'bold of you to assume my style was inspired by anime/manga' :stuck_out_tongue:

As for me, bitwam2's style was inspired by Girls' Last Tour, and more generally by the more rough and loose style of its author Tsukumizu2

Oh your artstyle also reminds me of Made in Abyss! Very cool style!:sparkles:

it's tough to pinpoint specifics anymore but i always go back to the soft round styles of old school anime

and then the stretchy(???) expressive styles from some of the new stuff

ideally it's just stuff with enough range to bounce between relatively serious to comedic so there's balance coz that's essentially how the tone of my comics work (or at least its what i plan for)

I Love of Drawing anime came from Inuyasha. I think I seriously got obsessed with anime when starting to watch Inuyasha. While FMA led down to appreciate good story telling and investing in amazing character development.
I fell in love with Inuyasha and Edward Golden Eyes so much that I even Added that feature into my own character Xepholen from Infinite Strike. Though with my Character his eyes have a deeper meaning why they are that color.

My art is inspired a lot by JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. That's the one that really got me into manga and made me wanna start drawing more. I was also inspired a bit by One Piece when I read it, with the goofy expressions and how cartoony everything looked while still feeling three-dimensional and solid. Berserk's incredible shading really made me wanna get more ambitious with my art (and Berserk made me get more ambitious with my story too). Hunter x Hunter wasn't quite as strong of an inspiration as the others, but I think it deserves an honorable mention since I think it added a little flavor to my style that I wouldn't have had otherwise. I keep coming back to each of these series and reading new ones to flesh out my style and the references I draw from
