What are some good tags?

Been thinking about this for a while. Aside from the obvious, like genre and subject matter, what more generalized tags make effective search terms?

Everywhere else I post, it's obvious. Hashtag "webcomics." Hashtag "comicart." And so forth. But on Tapastic, that's implied. Genre is already listed. And subject matter could lead to obscure terms no one would search for.

Media? Artists with work similar to yours? What kind of pens you used? Buzz words like "alternative?" What do you find works to help people find your comic?

I have been thinking about this, too. I don't really have any good advice on the matter because I'm figuring it out.

It can be a good idea though to look at similarly themed comics and what tags they are using. Since readers of those comics would probably be interested in yours as well.

I.... probably don't use the tags the way they're intended to. XD I tend to write jokes in them, or emphasise/exaggerate the joke I've already told in the author's comments.

I sometimes use specific content tags for violence, though.

I don't think most people use the tags how they're intended to be used here O_O I write the weirdest side commentary in them that isn't as essential for people to read like the caption and are just jokes or some random thought about the page. There's always a few people here who make sure to read author tags just for that and love it to death

That's interesting. I never thought to use them as a kind of alt text.

I put in tags my webcomic name, genre, style (manga) and media (traditional). And then some stupid comments if I have any cx

Basic things + if there's a particular thing or event.
Sometimes a sentence like "omg it's awesome right".

It's pretty simple, but I'm not the best for using tags either

Hahaha, yeah - some of my tags include "grump", "oh god is that child covered in blood?", "children how do they work?", "grumpiest dad ever" and "alas poor bandits we knew them well". XD

Makes me wonder though, if tagging is at all useful for searching your comic, aside from the one genre tag.

I believe it is, but mainly on the computer instead of mobile? And I don't think many people know to do that unless they've hunted through the site for awhile
