What are some tactics you used to marketing your comic?

I've developed a routine every time I post an episode...

1. Promote/link in as many relevant forum topics as I can find

2. Post the link on my IG story/Twitter

3. Share the link in the Tapas Discord chat

4. Share the link with my friends

I do this for every new update and it's worked well so far! I also put some of my strips on Tiktok, Reddit, and Instagram to reach more readers

Promote on social, host contests or interesting topic threads, I'm thinking of making YT shorts for my comics, It's time consuming but worth it in the long run, no one will market your comic for you in most cases, well unless you get a publisher lmao XD

I used to make commentary speedpaint videos to promote my comic. I stopped because I don't have as much time anymore.

For a long while, fanarts of similar genres are used to gain more followers to get them to see my project, but I've kind of stopped doing that too because time.

I try to make epic/pretty illustrations to showcase my main characters from my story and maybe try to show snippet of funny panels or scenes.

I talk to people in creator communities to see what they like to create, keyword, not what they like. Though I kind of stopped doing a lot of that because I have no time to speak with people as much anymore.

Sidenote, promoting to an existing following is quite difficult especially if you change genre in your creation. So create things that would attract the kind of audiences you want therefore anything you make after they can like without needing to do elaborate marketing just to find that one person out of one hundred. Of course, don't be discouraged to try new things as well, we can all learn so much from people's opinions before we can come to our own conclusion. After all, marketing is always changing so keep your eyes out for that too.

If you have the opportunity, attend or exhibit at comic conventions. It's a fantastic way to connect with fans and fellow creators face-to-face.
Also, you should share your insights and experiences by writing guest posts for blogs related to comics or your specific genre.
Consider creating a website that goes beyond just hosting your comics. Make it interactive, allowing readers to explore your comic world in more depth.

Well, usually the basics:

Sharings concepts, illustrations, wips on FB, IG, TW, Tumblr, even Reddit or Discord
Sharing time-lapses, making process, vlogs for Youtube or Tiktok
Live drawing, answering questions and such on Twitch

From time to time accepting questions or challenges with readers/followers and provide answers with drawings of the characters, them "being the ones that answer"

Then of course, doing a few memes, challenges, DTIYs, prompts, things to interest people in the characters first, and then the story.

Sharing in all places when there is a new chapters or new cover.

I know this thread is a bit old. But I am going to give some harsh advice.

You need to have a main series which has enough there that people would get something out of it. On your page you have 23 series, most of them short or unfinished. There is nothing wrong with making side series but if you want people to be drawn into your work, you need a "tentpole" series that you use to define yourself.

People are usually less interested in you as a creator, and more interesting in types of stories they want to read.
