What are the little things you have done in your comic storytelling that no one seemed to notice

I write a story about Angels and Demons, and I draw all Demons/only the Demons with sharp teeth/fangs. People were surprised when I revealed one of the characters was actually a Demon although he was one of the few characters with fangs XD no one had noticed, so I had to point it out...

I also tend to joke a lot about having same face syndrome to cover up the fact that characters who look a lot alike are either the same person in disguise, or related....

Also, changing the eye colour of characters who are possessed. My readers assumed that one character constantly switching between blue or green eyes was a mistake, but it was an indication of when she's possessed or not.

You have to understand that not all readers are the same. Some notice details, some only read for fun. They don't have a reason to dig deep into stuff unless they really get into the story. We write these details in for readers to notice when they reread since hardly ever will a reader come into a story noticing EVERY little detail. They have to focus on the plot firstly before they can notice the details. Not saying that some won't but if they do, it's probably just a coincidence.

And as for my own case, Idk. I leave too much foreshadowing to even pay attention to what is noticed and what isn't some is, some probably not. But that's the fun of it for me.

I can't speak for all my readers, but a friend who reads my comic didn't notice that one character's hair isn't the natural color, despite showing that. A whole page shows the character younger with her natural hair color, and it being dyed is mentioned. But somehow, completely missed! And this is blue hair we're talking about!

Another funny mention is a small piece of background text got confused for a character being afraid of Snoop Dogg.

In my comic the color is extremely important.

Personality based on colors: All characters represent two colors which is their main personality and "shadow personality". The shadow personality is show in the second arch.

Background colors tells the mood: My comic is not colorful to look pretty. They represent very specific feelings and ideas. Purple backgrounds mean instrospection. Greens are brave moments.

Color tells which characters are related: A character represented by color blue + red character gave birth to our purple character. Plus all the family members have the same eye color. You can predict right now who is related to whom. But this gets under the radar a lot

I actually really do think they probably did notice, but not making a big deal of it (and hopefully they are). Probably they are also still unable to make something of it. I believe my readers are pretty astute and smart (such as figuring out the facade of a character right on the bat). Even if they read just for fun, do not underestimate human perception.

I prefer to put it as "Things readers has not brought up yet." Examples:

• The color of insignias some characters have and their meaning, the colors that have appeared are dark blur, light blue, green, and white.
• The appearance of the unnamed woman in prologue is similar to the main character's adoptive mother (wavy black hair, green eyes). Prologue woman also have a specific adornment for her pendant, which is a very crucial item in the series.
• Involvement of a foreign power.
• Some characters' ability are determined by their race, so you can easily guess it.

OOOFFF, that must have been hilarious, it was pretty obvious and no one noticed the fangs in his mouth
the eye color stuff is also pretty good, pretty subtle way of showing something. I do sometimes with my characters with how their eyes are drawn but haven't gotten into explaining it.

Yh you're absolutely right, I just hope they actually see it, i love those little details authors put into their manga when i read it so i would be overjoyed if people also discover and enjoy the little ones i put as well.

I'm really hopeful they did notice, because for other stuff they pointed out what i was going for immediately, its like a nice little conversation i can have with them as they're reading, especially since i plan to do a lot of this with my readers as the story goes on, I'm mostly just worried my writing wasn't good enough to get across what i was trying to do

I have a few easter eggs here and there, as well as (seemingly irrelevant) items/objects in some panels that will be crucial to the plot later on. :-3

I dunno, I like to think maybe if someone re-read it one day they'd be like "Oh! Oooooh! That's [insert spoiler here]!!!" and geek out on that stuff.

It's just fun for me really.

I don't care for revealing spoilers. Cuz most people take it as a joke.... As for my hints, I put them as the subscription cards on my board and in the book. The first big twist is the fact that the blood king faked their death and is the main character's sibling along with a few of the head warriors... No one and I mean no one seems to notice, Or they have and they just don't comment.
Eh i cant speak for my readers so ill leave it at that

Well, I doubt anyone would notice cus its spoilers..the colours my speech bubble for my mains are related to the colour of something else...and on 2 of my characters it doesn't seem to fit with it...for now.

It’s subtle and no one has pointed it out yet. My comic has a big jumble of a cast that are all looking for love. Characters who are interested in each other or will have a significant arc with each other share a unique color in their respective signature pallets that isn’t used for other characters. It’s more of a secret hint than something I ever expect readers to pick up on. Maybe it sinks in on an unconscious/subliminal level though.

Well... I have one detail that I actually put throughout all of my media. (It's not the omega, guys.) It's in my animations, art, music, the manga + novel. I don't want to say what it is though because it's a secret until you figure it out (involves some detective work). So far, 3 people have figured it out ehehe.

I see two things: the most important is that I'm playing a lot with unreliable narrators and, although I know my readers know it, I don't know if they know which ones are the worst offenders. Sometimes the facts have been deformed by 2 or 3 successive persons before the character speaks in the comic.

Another, more anecdotic one is easter eggs and vague allusions. Most of them are 99% private jokes with myself, I just include stuff I like even if I know it's way too obscurely inserted or too far fetched to hope someone would find it. But, a few were found by readers anyway, and that was really, really nice!

I had a hidden character present for most of Spire's run, implied to be connected to my character Jack. Nobody really ever asked about it or commented on hints of this character being present :^(
