Thanks for sharing, and it sounds like they are trying to catch up to A03 and Wattpad. Both of those writing websites already use tags.

Literally that. It was a comic with no comic pages.

I remember this article on amazons best sellers books program, the dude tricked the algorithim by making a book called my blank book(30 white pages or something), put it in amazon books section and asked 3 of his friends to buy the book in less than an hour... the book got to the top of the list and staid for a while... a blank book in the best seller section of amazon =P

What do you mean when you say podcast? Here on tapas , or somewhere else?

I saw something like that just now, so yeah, that is strange. I guess it will forever remain a mystery since none of the staff commented on this.

Oh well, I tried...

It might not be so sinister as I guess lots of people come from elsewhere with followings and maybe somebody up top just liked the look of it but it made me interested.

Maybe...I don't know. At this point, I've kind of given up on getting into the Daily Snack, but thanks for responding to me though =)

I do appreciate you having this discussion with me^^

I always find it fun to analyze different ways to market our stories and get our names out there. For now, I'm just going to keep using Twitter and my blog for promotion.

16 days later

Wait what, what's a daily snack? :open_mouth: I thought only the new and noteworthy were a thing? Is this mobile only ?

Yorp, on the mobile version the staff features 5-6 handpicked pages from some comics everyday. It's pretty cool

do you know if it's from comics on a specific time frame or do they check specific comics by taking in consideration subs/likes/views?

(just trying to narrow down what makes the site tick =P)

Hmmmmmmm I'm not really sure how they do it but I'm guessing that they check out whatever looks interesting based on the thumbnail?

I have no clue to be honest haha

I think they basically follow the same logic as Staff picks where, obviously the staff picks it for these reasons afaik:

  1. does your comic look like it has 'promise'
  2. is the first episode of your comic a good introduction to the story
  3. does it relate to the topic of the 'snack'

Idk why my comic appeared for the first time in the daily snack but the second time It popped up on the daily snack it was because the topic was rainy weather and my comic starts during a storm.

huh? I think your hitting something there =D
the first two point seam bit too subjective(opens to many question), but the third one is perfect for answering the question: what do you need to get picked? or, the most asked one, "Why didn't my comic get picked?"

thanks a lot!!! this information is very much appreciated

true! the first two are definitely subjective because it is. hand picked by staff so literally anything goes..
the third I didn't really realize until this past week because I was wondering where I was getting so much attention from, checked the app - lo and behold >_>;;

congrats man!!!, hope for the best!!
and again thanks for the info, I think most artist either don't know or don't want to tell (ego and such... sigh)
but thanks for telling us at least a bit of how you got into the daily snack!!
even a small thing helps a bunch =D
