What are the tittle facts about your drawing process

I actually suck at drawing hands. If it looks like I draw them well, it's because I heavily reference pictures of my own hands. This also applies to feet but since it's impossible to take pictures of my feet at certain angels without being a contortionist, my drawings of feet look pretty bad.

I don't storyboard my comic pages, I work them out in my head and then translate my mental images to drawings. Has this caused problems where a different composition would have suited better after completing the page? Sometimes, but by and large I'm pretty happy with how they turn out.

I don't like hands either. And now that I'm doing more dynamic poses manga mouths are rough its different than semi or realism.
I do the 'as if full colour image' in my head first. My friends call it seeing in the 4th demension lol.
Then storyboard it in then start. I tend do to the breakups for backgrounds / perspectives first. Then start line then continue with base. Then do whatever magic or effects I need a fit as a soft add. So I can get the light and shade better. Then finish it off. Final is making sure depth is added or else it looks all on the same plain in perspective.
Unless its an illustration with a transparent background.

I really hate drawing line art. So I usually don't make my lines very detailed, I start coloring when they're still quite rough. I also don't process line art and colors in different layers (after all, I can say there's no line art).

Usually, I use just one layer for each character, I won't use multiple layers to draw a single character, unless that character has many very small accessories.

Below is roughly my drawing process. The disadvantage of my method is that I have to spend a lot of time adjusting and optimizing it in the later stages. This is because there isn't a very clear and specific line art in the early stages, but what can I do when I hate drawing line art so much.

I often do a big breakdown of my layouts with thumbnails, then a cleaner sketch, then I clean my lineart then I color and render. It's a lot of steps but it makes me feel less like I'm always doing the same thing since I do these steps when I feel like it and manage to be on date with my schedules.

But my workflow is getting quicker for my last few pages, I usually thumbnail more precisely and directly pass from the thumbnail to the lineart.

I suck at drawing hands too, and will often use my own or my husband’s as a model.

For me, colouring (and texturing) is by far the most time intensive part of a drawing, but it’s also my favourite part because it makes the drawing come to life. The method that I use for colouring is probably weird and is likely ten times more complicated than it needs to be

1) The hardest part is conceptualizing the panel. Takes longer for me than inking, coloring, shading.

2) ADB is always drawn at a temporary stop. (Truck stop, mall food court, mcdonalds, public park, etc)

As I work digital, I don't thumnail anymore. I just zone out a little, then zoom in to finish the panel. Separate thumbs are just a waste of time now. I also never draw hair in the roughs. I just draw where it kinda is, then finish it in line art.

dont worry about it and just keep at it!

if you suck and drawing hands, focus more on drawing hands! draw the least favorite body parts the most and youll get better! look at your previous drawings and see what you want to improve more!

I look for a picture that references a certain pose I want for a character, then I draw the character in the pose using basic shapes, then I draw their hair and clothes, and then fill in all the details

My linearts are almost always brown (I then make the layer "linear light".)

I do the thing every art guide tells you not to: I shade with warm colours.

Even with cooler pieces; this one is very blue, but i used purples to shade. Closer to red, closer to warm...

And, of course, overlay since idk how to make colours pop any other way. Usually brown, unless I am purposfully trying to do something cooler... Melds things together well also-- so this might be a pretty normal thing.

Lineart! (black ballpoint pen, chisel tip permanent marker)

Flat colors! (with alcohol markers so the ink doesn't bleed when I use watercolor on top)

I suck at making the winkles in the clothing look good, also a bit of a anatomy!

Typically I draw digitally with the screen brightness at around 50% because my eyes hurt after too much bright lights.

Because I'm working at a lower light settings, my drawings tend to have brighter colors and stronger contrast when viewed at a brighter screen.

Funny enough, when I look at pictures with duller colors and lower contrast through my 50% screen brightness, I just wonder if the artist was working on a brighter screen. Sometimes I will temporarily make my screen brighter so I can see the drawing.

I at times first start my process by storyboarding my comic. Either on traditional paper or digitally:

I then pencil the comic digitally. If I am lazy, I just copy the storyboard if they look clean enough. Sometimes during the pencilling page, I change some stuff in the page something as I got new inspirations and viewpoints to make the page look better:

Then I proceed to work these pages out by going inking -> coloring ->rendering by also going from foreground ->middleground ->background. The text gets added later on when it is all said and done.:
