What are you guys' favorite shipping dynamics/tropes?

I think the title is self-explanatory, but I also want to know did they influenced your novel/comic?

Some of my favorites are these:

• Rivals to lovers. I hate bully x bullied but a playful academic rivals to lovers story is almost always good.

• Best friends/partners in crime to lovers, especially if they take care of each other. Oh my gosh these are always the sweetest stories and I swear I speed-read these all the time.

• Dramatic gossiper/oversharer x good listener. I don't know if this is as common, but these are always so wholesome and cute.

• The classic golden retriever energy x black cat energy. I see this a lot, but in my opinion, it is absolutely not overdone. This is the perfect dynamic, no questions needed.

As to how this impacts my novel? I'm not sure, but maybe these will come into play in the future.

How do you pick a favourite, they're all so good?

Ok, more seriously some actual dynamics/tropes I love:

• Icy x Icy who're only soft with each other. Typically it's an Ice King x Ice Queen but give me all the cold and icy to everyone but each other.
• The classic short angry king x giant softie
• Good old fashioned stupidly close besties. Are they a couple? Are the FWB? Are they just besties who're ridiculously comfortable and touchy? Who knows? Not them.
• They're just both idiot dumbasses being stupid together.
• Enemies to lovers but like within reason. Enemies like undercover cop x criminal. Or enemies from enemy kingdoms or organisations or something forced to spend time together for some reason.

Rivals to lovers all day. Especially when their history isn't forgotten the minute they get together, but is still part of their dynamic.

I enjoy all tbh. Can't say I have a prefered type. I do prefer when one is a villain. Just makes the story interesting. I guess hero x villain scenario is my favorite type. I really like heroine x villainess stories.

I actually don't have a favorite. My preference is healthy above all else. Rivalries can be fun but how often is the male lead portrayed as a cocky douche and the female lead is uptight and bratty. Sunshine and the grump can be fun, but emotionally taxing for both sides if neither side isn't willing to give a little bit. Almost any pairing can work if both partners are committed to becoming better people and supporting their partner.

This sums up all of my shipping preferences HAHA. Enemies to lovers/best friends/forbidden love/etc. they all gotta have the doggie x cat dynamic.

• Horrible person × horrible person.
  It is not problematic when both parties totally deserve it Bonus point if they're aware of their own horrible sides and acknowledge how terrible their partner is, but they also fully understood that they can only belong to each other because of that.

• Supernatural or fantasy creatures of two different types that usually don't interact or have hostile interactions (e.g. angel × demon, kitsune × werewolf). It will be interesting if their differences are explored.

• A-royal-and-their-knight type of relationship.

• Lovers to enemies can be enjoyable.

• Also more of platonic ship, please.

My preference don't affect my series that much. There is minimal shipping involved in my series and I think first about how the story flows then adding stuffs I like if I see fit. My series is not made because I wanna cram in tropes I like. In fact I have tropes which I only like when it's done by other people and/or in specific circumstances (which is not applicable in my series). There are also tropes which I only like when I do it.

Definitely an absolute evil bastard of a villain, with a partner they love immensely and treat amazing. Nothing is funnier than the worst person ever being in a wonderful, healthy relationship.

Haha if anything it's the other way around for me; my stories came first and that gave me a taste for certain dynamics, which then makes me look everywhere for stories featuring them

I'm a sucker for responsible, selfless person x selfish, insouciant person but they kind of switch roles when they're with each other:

Basically, A isn't really evil; they won't actively hurt you, they're just very individualistic and doesn't believe they have obligations to others, whereas B person runs themself into the ground trying to help others every waking hour of their life. But then they get together and B is the only person A will take care of no matter what ('because I feel like it, not because I feel responsible for them or anything', A would say), and B finally allows themself to relax ('if it makes A happy, I guess it's the right thing to do?' B would think)

(But yeah, if anyone has seen this somewhere, recommendations are very welcome and appreciated XD)

Yknow with a few tweaks this is actually super close to one of the main relationships in my comic - though I think this usually has A being a cool swauve rebel rather than a bumbling slightly homicidal mess and B is more high strung and stressed out than depressed. Ig we have similar tastes.

As for my fave character dynamic - one is really cool and awesome at fighting and the other sucks.

Haha I was editing my story this morning and I was like dang, there definitely is some best friends to lovers going on. It's like I was doing it subconsciously.

Also for recommendations, if you haven't read it, Six of Crows. It doesn't exactly fit this trope, but it's close and sooo good.

I like it when the plot takes its course and you naturally see who ends up with who in an unpredictable fashion. Like "How tf did these two even end up together??".

That or the person sticks with the relationship they've teased from episode 1 without straying away. I like both extremes.

These two tropes right here, especially the former. I love it when the bully is humbled by their rival. And eventually becomes a better person for it. The romance aspect seems to be icing on the cake. Then of course Two best friends falling in love makes sense. Like Kim and Ron from Kim Possible.

There's really only two ways I'd approach shipping, personally.

•DIY: Figure out all the calculations for shipping to the desired location , buy the materials, package and send the delivery away from your own mailbox

•Get a postal service to do all the shipping calculations for you.

It's more expensive but I'm more inclined to get the postal service to do it.
