What are your art places on the Internet?

I can't keep up with being active on a lot of sites, so I'm usually choosing just one to be active at. So far it was tapas for comics, and instagram for drawings. And they were enough for me, I don't really care for the algorithm, I just want a place to post my works, see others' work, and interact with others, so they worked fine.
However with recent changes on both tapas (...those notifications on web page) and instagram (removing option to browse by hashtags by 'recently posted') it's hard for me to motivate myself to still be active there.

They're probably still going to be my main places to post art, but I'm looking for some alternatives What do you recommend? What is your favourite place to post your comics or drawings?
There was a topic with multiple webcomics platforms comparison, but I'd like to hear more opinions on which art/comics platforms are the best for you

I'm also on webtoons but I don't really like it and I'm just posting there without any further interactions, it's not very intuitive for me

Honestly, the most consistent place I post art is among friend groups on Discord, haha.

Other than that, I tend to post to Twitter (lol) and/or Tumblr. I also occasionally also use DeviantArt still. I've found Reddit to be a good place for fanart, especially if you want people to see it.

Seems like most social medias turn yikes sooner or later though, so idk if there's really one good place for art.

For comics Webtoons is still my winning platform. For art... I don't even know anymore, I wasn't doing so bad on Instagram, but I literally have to make myself to post there or on Twitter for a few months now. It honestly feels like every platform I am starting to try and actively post on decides to die in terrible pain. Now it happened to Reddit
Right now I revived my old account on a local social media (which unfortunately I can't recommend to anyone except people from CIS), which I originally posted on and frankly it's a great platform by itself. Although as soon as I returned I immediately found hundreds of thread on how this platform is pushing down original content creators lol.
Returning to Tumblr doesn't sound like a bad idea anymore

Ahh I used to use tumblr when I was in highschool, but I quickly side tracked from posting my arts to reposting cute dresses hahaha cx how is it there now? I've heard it's mostly good for posting fanarts?

Hmm any tips on how to get more into Webtoons? It's very hard for me to be more social there, as I don't get any notifications for comments and for some reason always miss others' updates. I need human interactions on those sites and it feels like Webtoons doesn't allow me to interact with others

I love tumblr. I loved it back in the old days, then I left - IDK why, I guess because everyone else did. But IMO it is still the most superior platform for creatives (SFW ones) because you can post so much different content and ramble about things to your heart's content.

Yeah, unfortunately there's no way around no notifications, you just have to go through everything manually I wish I could say something new and useful, honestly Now that they have a wall not unlike Tapas had, you can post art there too and write stuff (although you still have to make people subscribe on you there).
Don't forget to update all notifications in your setting, some of them could be off

I usually advertise my comics with link to WT on /webtoons subreddit. You can do it with art too, just make sure to read their rules xD they sometimes delete stuff even if you did all properly, but I guess that's some meticulous mods lol

@Mallory I used to spend so much time on Tumblr way before I got back into art, it was a freaking amazing platform indeed.

Can't say too much because I don't interact with it much outside of my own social circle, but it seems pretty good? I assume fanart would do better than original art because it usually does anyway, haha.

Personally, I just... don't care.
For me I publish on 6 places: Ko-Fi (Early access) Instagram, Facebook (count as 1 since I use Business to post), Twitter, Tumblr and Discord. I'm satisfied with each based on the focus I have, I honestly don't mind it much

In general, I don't usually get a lot of engagement unless is very specific:

• Ko-Fi: No engagement of posts unless it is a commission request, but is a tiny motivator for Membership
• Instagram & Facebook: Spanish followers or friends that have been with me since 2015
• Twitter: Vtuber Community
• Tumblr: Specific fandoms
• Discord: Little engagement, be it compliments or a few questions about my drawing process.

For Webcomics, well, I don't do that since I'm not the author of the series, but when I publish something (Be it a Short story or a One-Shot), I use

• English: Webtoon Canvas, Tapas.Io and Webcomics App
• Spanish: Canvas de Webtoon, Faneo and Akaya Media

Now in terms of engagement:

can I say... Tumblr's UI and navigation system is just bad? I have processing issues and the site is so inaccessible. There's too much to look at within each post and weird information hierarchy. I get lost, overwhelmed, and not sure how to navigate the information. I've tried several time to engage but I just can't.

I find Instagram much better, though Im not even on there anymore since they give me want to promote trarsh from people I don't follow

Welp I havent been working on my webcomic in YEARS, so def not posting that...I do most of my posting across any spaces I can- Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pillowfort, Mastodon, and Spoutible. I still have Tumblr, but when I was posting there back in the day it never felt like I had any traction there- so I stopped.

I still have Deviant Art, but I stopped posting there since 2017.

I technically quit public social media and mostly post my art on private and public discord servers. I found it the best because I can focus on fewer things that matters more (my own art and friend's art).

Back then, my I post on deviantArt and got many friends and acquaintances there. I moved to Instagram to catch up with people, but the interactions and especially the capability to showcase art is severely lacking compared to dA. Its instantaneous nature can be more rewarding or punishing. I tried Twitter and most of the time it's screaming to a void (weirdly I get more likes and RT using Japanese hashtags). I also attempted to use artfol, I don't know if it still exists anymore.

@igneriss Pillowfort, Mastodon, and Spoutible are the latest sites/apps to come in the last few years(Pillowfort has been around since 2018/2019); Mastodon and Spoutible have popped up in the last 8 months since Elmo has taken over Twitter...

With Mastodon you sign up to a "community" server group- I think they designed it that way so that it would be hard to mess with; it's a little weird, but I've gotten used to it. Spoutible is almost a Twitter clone, except that you can EDIT your posts/responses...

Pillowfort to me, works more like Tumblr- and they dont have an issue with NSFW art.

Honestly I'm NOT the most well-versed in tumblr use, aha. I've recently been told that the #1 thing to do is just interact with people - like, reblog, reply, that kind of stuff, which is how you build your following/friend group. No one can see how many followers you have. I would actually say the tags and the algorithm (as simple as it is) do work. I posted some fanart and got engagement from the local fandom and for a few weeks Tumblr diligently showed me posts of other people in the fandom (I assume based on the tags I used in my own post), which I was a) surprised by and b) quite enjoyed, because it did NOT try to shove things that it THOUGHT I might like. It just curated the exact little slice of fandom that I posted in, all "Hey dog I saw that you posted some art of X, so here's more art and fanfic of X ".

Their UI could definitely use work, but you can get used to it. Things are still mostly where they should be, sometimes you just have to look around.

When I started off drawing DeviantART was for long years my one and only platform I dedicated many years to, it's still close to me, since I started there 16 years ago, but then I slowly moved to Instagram and was very active over there, actually IG was the one platform which kinda made me more active in terms of drawing. Drawing slightly less complicated illustration, but much more of them than I was ever used to. I joined recently also post-musk on Twitter lol Maybe it wasn't a good idea, hahaha. I'm trying to split my attention across all platforms I use

Currently I post my art on Mastodon, Wordpress and a couple of sites I made in Neocities. Sometimes I also post drawings and WIPs here, but I haven’t been here as often lately.

I like the microblogging format and used Twitter for a short while, but I got overwhelmed with it and gave up in 2021. I’ve been using Mastodon with an account on an art-focused instance since last year and I enjoy being there, and have been doing far better with engagement. The instance I’m on hosts some art challenges and prompts and those helped me a lot with getting involved and meeting more people.

There’s a strong presence of webcomic and webtoon creators there, which I’m glad to see!
