What are your thoughts on subscriber

so i been noticing people who subscribe to like 9000 comic in hope to get 1 subscriber for every 100 comic wich makes them dead subscriber who don't interact with any comic they subscribe, I just find them really annoying,
also while we on the topic what do you tink on sub for sub

IMO, you shouldn't be subscribing to other people in the hopes that they subscribe to you. From what I can tell, that trend of "sub for sub" doesn't really happen here on Tapastic. Maybe on DeviantArt or something, but here on Tapastic most people who have lots of subs have earned them by making a comic that's worth subscribing to, updating it regularly, and maintaining a presence in the comic community.

Plus, when you subscribe to a comic, you're going to get notifications through Tapastic itself as well as emails and the like, so god help whoever seriously subs to every single series on the website in the hopes of getting 1 or 2 subs in return lol

As a creator, I also rarely check the profiles of my subs. Unless it's someone whose username I recognize (so personal friends and/or family who made an account to subscribe or something like that) I just check the sub count and move on. So I'm definitely not spending my time sifting through my subs just to subscribe to their series because they subscribed to mine (especially because the ratio of readers to creators is a lot higher). That's time I could be spending working on my comic so that I can actually get subscribers (and for the people who are already subscribed)

well I personally like to check my subscriber account just to know a little more about them and not see them as just a number,
but for those who have like 9000 comics let's hope they don't have the app on their phones, I would rather win my subscriber over a whole year then in a month of pity

There is one that I know off that subscribes to a lot o comics ( around 9000+). But when you check the profile, it has given a very few likes and no comments at all. So the moment he/she unsubscribed from my comic, I was like "Good riddance!" XD

in some respects i wish we could see how active our subscribers are , least that way we can kick off the dead weight who don't bother as much as pressing a like button let alone leave a comment. personally I only sign up to what i'm reading and if for any reason i dont continue following a comic i unsub, it's only fair

That's strange, I know it happens on other sites but I didn't noticed it on Tapastic. I've never supported that kind of action. I only subscribe to comics I like and I'm not expecting sub in return

Having small subscriber count, I'm able to check out their series, but I can't imagine that way of getting that one sub working if it's about larger numbers or more popular creators. Also how are they able to keep up with 9000+ comics. o.e

I love subbing for a sub. I try to actively get involved in comment faving sharing series I sub. I generally try to stick with creatives Im interested in so it's a genuine interraction and not just farming. Whenever I get a new sub I tend to follow the creators works as well. There are some series I never would have entertained if someone hadn't taken the initiative to follow my ideas.

In defense of the numbers tactics I don't agree with it, but I understand. It's tough and after struggling for so long creators are going to get desperate. The best thingwe can do is to generally be more supportive of creative ideas,especially the ones with little to no audience. Rather than overlooking the struggling artists with nothing to work with the least we can do is point them in the right direction with a comment even if we dont sub. Plenty of a few brilliant artists here have given me feedback and it was enough to keep me on the path of improvement.

If you sub for sub and you don't actually read the person's comic, you'll actually lessen their chances of getting on the trending pages or getting recommended to people.
The algorithm on this site doesn't work with sub for sub.
The subs that are reading and liking and engaging are the ones that affect your success. Subcount is nothing.
