What book or comic got you into art?

Okay, don't laugh but it was in the CosmoGirl! magazine. At the very end of the them, there was a comic that I adored. It was called, The Adventures of CG. Anyway, I loved the art and the artist work, so I ended up buying Dramacon: Ultimate Edition.

W.I.T.C.H. Magazine. I was drawing before I read the magazines, but it was the first tutorials I ever got. Some of the magazines had drawing guides for the girls.

That and Valhalla, a very popular Danish comic I loved to trace and take inspiration from.

You like W.I.T.C.H, me too. My former friends and I used to actually act out the book before the TV show was introduced.

For me it was the stories from Asterix and Obelix when I was about 8 or 9 years old. I did some drawings before but this stories where the reason to start with comics myself. Me and my little sisters where playing epic stories with our plush toys and then drew suuuuper epic comics about them. omg we thought we were the best comic creators ever xD

Ooh yes Tin Tin! My ount had sooo much of those comics but I was to young to understand what was going on xD so I just looked at the pretty pictures.

I always had lots of illustrated books and I liked to draw since I was little, but this series got me into comics when I was a kid:

That, followed by the comic collection one of my uncles had, from which I remember Buddy Longway, Tintin, Asterix and Obelix, and some really weird scifi/erotica stuff I can't remember the name and he denies having them (and leaving them out for a 10 year old )

Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics is what made me realize I wanted to write them

I've always been an artist, but the book that got me into writing was the Rootabaga Stories series by the classic American poet laureate Carl Sandburg.

Faith Erin Hicks actually got me into comics. I loved Demonology 101 but the one that REALLY got me into comics? An unfinished work by her called 'ICE'. It was intriguing, a little dark and with compelling characters, after reading it I knew I wanted to do something like it.

Early influences were the VERY EARLY Megatokyo strips and hilariously enough, the Archie Comics. (I loved the Betty & Veronica series a lot more but the mainstream comics were what got me into character driven stories in the first place)

Not a comic or book really but TV. All the cartoons I watched (Arthur in particular) made me want to create my own stories.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sonic the Hedgehog, Ronin Warriors, and Dragon Ball got me into art. Dragon Ball Z and Bleach made me start taking it more seriously. Marvel Comics, not the cartoons, have me wanting to take my art skills to higher levels.
