What do those of you without a scanner do?

I'm sure that about 99% of you guys here draw better using the traditional method of pen/paper, as do I. The only problem is that I don't have access to a scanner to scan it into my computer, and don't have the necessary income to purchase one. Are there any suggestions about how I could get my material into my computer?

You can always go to a print shop. They tend to have scanners and such, or at least here they do :o And they're waaaaaaaay bigger than anything you could purchase.

You can get your stuff scanned for a few cents

well when i draw something in my sketch book its usually only ever a sketch. My colored pencils and such have long deteriorated or gotten lost. My scanner also broke down long ago (not that it was ever very good to begin with) so now i just take pics with my iphone if i really need to :v I send them to my email and download them to my computer then use it as the sketch and draw over it in the computer.

often times it looks better then the sketches i draw out on the computer.

I mostly draw my comic traditionally, I go to STAPLES and have an employee there scan it for me and save it onto a flash drive. Then I go home and take care of the cropping and whatever edits need to be done.

For the money that you will spend scanning forever at some shop, i think is better to buy a scanner.

I just bought the Canon Lide 220 wich is very recommended. And there is the Epson v37 wich it seems to be great too. Both are sold at around 100 dls so they´re not really expensive in my opinion =)

Before we got a scanner I was taking pictures of my marker works with my Samsung Galaxy 4 phone camera outside on bright sunny days. I did a bit of color shifting and stuff to make it look right. But the images were not really big at all for what I desire.

I think I like the suggestions to take the art to an office store.

I certainly don't draw better traditionally. In fact my art career only really started getting decent recognition when I turned all digital. So to answer your question, just go digital?

Do you have a decent camera? I never scan sketches anymore, I photograph them with my phone and have it connected to Dropbox, so when I get to my computer, all I have to do is open them up there.

Artists who do space art often make them in oil or acrylics, maybe airbrush. They photograph their art, because it's too big to be able to scan. It's all about the setup with camera and lighting.

I use my phonecamera then send it to someone on skype en save it from skype on pc later. Phonecamera's are pretty decent nowadays

I went digital, and then sucked it up and dropped the money on a yiyinova. My art is a great deal better on it than with pencil.

I have a scanner and still use my Camera to transfer pictures into my computer. If you use paper with a strong grain this is exaggerated in many scanners, which, if you are just trying to get just the line art, will need to be removed later in Photoshop. Photos with diffused lighting don't get this. I use a Canon 550d, but much lower budget cameras will be perfectly up to the job.
