I like simple, slice-of-life short comics that are fairly light-hearted. Otherwise I like to go for something a bit more adventure-y.

I don't really have the time to dedicate to long-running series, so I tend not to start them at all. I even gave up reading Naruto and Bleach and Fairy Tail because it's simply too hard to keep up with all the details of a story that has been going on for over 300 chapters.

I'll eat up anything but I'm not really a fan of fantasy or adventure, since I don't care much for word building or anything. I like to stick to good ol "slice of life" realistic fiction stories that have a focus on characters ^_^

I love fantasy. I'm a sucker for adventure and mistery too, And i always like a little romance. I don't like it when a comic is only about romance, but a little is nice.

I like fantasy, adventure, and anythign with emotion and focus on characters. My favorite stories are ones that have relatable characters and an exciting plot

Have you tried The Simple Things4? It's by no one in particular.....

I like serial comics as well as graphic novels that drive home a point or evoke emotion. I'm especially a fan of simplistic main characters with heavy emphasis on inking.

Think Calvin and Hobbes, Bone, Far Side, Watchmen, Unsounded, etc.

I like on-going (not endless) comics such as action, supernatural, fantasy, romance, adventure, crime, historical, etc. The only types of comics I will not read as much are sports, slice of life or comedy.

Not really someone with a specific preference.

I seem to gravitate toward incredibly silly things, or incredibly well thought out storylines, though...

i love a lot of genres, but i gravitate towards romance, comedy, horror, mystery, or experimental comics. i also love, love, love comics with 'weird' art styles.

I'm making a romance/drama comic, but believe it or not, I'm mostly into horror or psychological stories.
Shounen-type manga is cool, too, but only if it's done right since I'm rather picky ;;;

usually action fantasy type, I like my Vanilla XD. Also, a bit of romance from time to time =)

Um.
There's action.
And then there's the philosophical love type of thing.
(Think like TFIOS, or Nisekoi, or Toradora, or (insert shounen anime))
God I'm such a cliché...

I generally prefer the lesser known comics because it is clear to me that the creator is still telling the story that she or he prefers instead of responding to a demand. Beyond that, I am looking through my subscriptions and seeing a lot of variety. I've got a couple of horror titles, some comics with amateurish appearances but I find hilarious, and gorgeous comics which make no attempt to be funny. My novel subs are likewise diverse. My current favorite comic is the shockingly underrated series, Children of the Moon.

While i agree there may be a stronger pressure to please a fanbase, i think is unfair to put all the mainstream in the same sack.

Sometimes, a well known story stands out because is unique.

But is great people like you are seeking hidden gems we may not find otherwise.

You are correct. Can be either horror or just overall exploring the darker side of fantasy.

That is very cool!!
It is amazing to know there is a specific genre for these kind of stories. I thought it was simply horror.
