One of my more random polls...I'm partial to 'can I have/get' myself.

I'm afraid I go for 'I'll take...' which I suppose is a gallicism.
I never thought about it. But apparently everyone understand. I hope it's not too rude sounding.

When I worked in fast food, I'd get plenty of people saying "I need a-". I would always think myself, "No. You don't need this. You don't need any of this."

The options should include a bunch of "um"s. It's impossible not to say "um" and "uh" when you place an order, even when you know what you want. Hahaha

Honestly, though...a lot of the time I start with "uuhhhhhhhh" on purpose because it just sounds more natural. ^^

I usually start with "Hi, how are you? Can I please have...", but that's more of an Australian thing.

My husband, a New York Italian-American, says "I'll take a..." That's what his whole family says. After 15 years of marriage and hearing him saying this at countless establishments, this still sounds very aggressive to my ears... like he'll literally get up and take it if they don't bring it forth on a salver with a smile on their face and a song in their hearts.

I usually go with "I'd like to order a..." and then end in "Please." Also, thanks to being a military brat, if they ask if I want anything else, I go "No, Sir," or "No, Ma'am". No matter what their age.

In French, "I'll take" (je prendrai) is polite, I suppose it's the same in Italian?

I've just now noticed that "Yeah, I'll have a..." is my go-to, which is a little weird to me bc I've never been like "Nah, lemme think about it more" and like.. then I wouldn't even be in line yet if that was the case. Like I never misheard what they said either, so the "yeah" is kinda unnecessary. In terms of a "would you like to order?" / "yeah, I hear you. I''ll have a .." then.. I guess I get it, but maybe I'm overthinking it lol can you tell I have anxiety ordering food by now? xD

“I’ll have the (name of food).” When it’s comes to ordering I tend to use as little words as possible. I just try to make it to the point.
