In many ways, I love manga, but there are parts of it that I often find irritating.
One is unnecessary fanservice. There are many good stories out there in the manga world that are oftentimes ruined by unhesitant fanservice. It often makes me cringe to see it, but it's part of the culture, so I can't do anything except make my own (at some point) and make fun of it. In fact, a series I had in mind makes fun of nosebleeds by having the main character be so pure-hearted that he gets one just by the thought of a female anything! Like an eyelash or something similar.
Another one is the crazy amounts of gore manga gets away with. It's not the worst thing I encounter, but the amount of disembodiment DC or Marvel shows has nothing on the brutality of HunterXHunter.
But in the end, I love manga. It has much more moving and interesting concepts than a lot of popular western comics. More often than not, manga's emphasis is on story rather than art, and they can accomplish both without hundreds of splash pages.
Another thing I really enjoy is the humanity manga loves to give. Once again, One Piece is my favorite manga because it emphasises the importance of friendship and doing what's right, even if it's against what the whole world considers good. Also, manga is much more relatable than something like DC or Marvel, simply because they can show more of the everyman. There are a few crazy ones, but many of the main characters in manga are not big buff guys in skin-tight spandex. Not every woman is a bombshell either (true, manga has those too, but it's at least more varied if the manga is down to earth). Also, children get more attention as well. I can barely think of a western comic that has a young, average kid as a main character, unless they're some kind of super genius or have super abilities. It's just not as common as manga likes to put it.
I can go on forever about how manga is good. So I'll stop here.
