What do you think of "Tapisodes"?

Hello, everyone!
I just read an e-mail from the Tapastic staff, where they announced a new storytelling format available through the app, whose name is "Tapisodes". In case you don't know yet what it is, let me explain it is a comic that instead of having panels with characters and speech bubbles displays a chat between characters similar to those in "Whatsapp" and "Facebook". Of course, it contains also drawings and aditional information about the situations. (You'll understand better if you simply open the app. I'm really bad at explanations XD)
I'm working on a comic series that might be pretty long, so I'm considering options to finish it quicker. Is that "Tapisode format appealing enough for you?

Bringing up the age old comparison, from the explanation you gave it just sounds like how Homestuck is formatted... a drawing showing the scene but the dialogue/exposition/Words being underneath it in a chat-based format.

It sounds interesting enough (and if it worked for homestuck, well...) I feel like it's really up to you on whether or not you think it'll be an appropriate method to tell your story. Certain methods of story-telling can work best for a story while others can hinder it, but it's really up to you on whether or not you think it'll be an efficient way to tell your story.

as for me, I'm probably not gonna use it. I like drawing out my comic pages and a character in my next story is mute and expresses himself through his body language so....chat format won't help much.

I honestly wasn't sure what to make of it when I read the email. I don't think that format would work well in my comic series anyways since one of my characters is a mute and has to use other methods to communicate. I guess I'll wait to see how it pans out for others before seriously considering it for myself.

I didn't know Homestuck, but it looks like it works well since the text format resembles those of the old videogames. Here's a link where you can see clearly how the Tapisodes actually work:

This could actually be used very effectively, though! For things like Q&A sessions or character expos, it could definitely help clean up the normal comic format for those wanting to use it like their "extras" series for a particular comic! It could also be handy for those wanting to do shorts in the style of an illustrative book, ooo!

It's an interesting idea. I don't think it would work for my current comic but I can see it working well for a more story based one. In fact my creative Juices are flowing already haha! I can see it working almost like a script would, just with added pictures to set the scene and describe the characters instead of stage directions.

I wasnt fond of it. However. It could certainly be used interestingly. Personally I felt like I was reading a script, I think I prefer more visuals.

It kinda screams illustrated play script to me. its interesting but not for me, not immersive enough. I'm not a fan of talking heads at the best of times and play scripts like these are of a tool for actors in my eyes.
BUT I have read the tizzle sisters that's half comic, half novel and that worked well

Why not just go with a visual novel at this point? (those can easily done without branching options and just a static story)

Looks a lot better, and also feels less like a "Facebook post argument/chat" and more like a story.
