I'm mostly proud when I look back. Last year I picked up writing again after a one year break and started a new series which was in a slightly different genre, in another language which I thought I wasn't proficient enough in to actually write something decent with it and on top of it all it was supposed to work as a webnovel with daily chapters even though I only ever wrote 'traditional' novels that I would put online after writing everything and revising at least once.
Now, with not even a whole year of distance (I'm still writing the series btw, I'm on volume 6 but almost finished revising volume 1 so it's basically running as two versions), I'm proud I even tried. I honestly think it was one of the best decisions I made in my writing career. So even if not everything about it is perfect, I don't regret trying.
The first few chapters were written in my native language before I translated them into English. By now, I don't need to do that anymore. I can type everything in English right from the get-go and I seldom need to look words up. I'm also making much less mistakes with grammar even though there's still a lot to improve. My wording has also gotten less dependent on my native language and reads more smoothly.
As for the plot ... There were things (especially in the first volume) that didn't play out as well as I hoped they would but a lot of them only needed a little tweaking. I scrapped some chapters, added others and changed their sequence since I'm writing multiple POVs. Overall, I feel that the story is readable (and much better after the first revision), surprisingly funny and deep enough in the places where it should be.
I also know that the subsequent volumes are better even though I didn't go back to read through all of it yet. I'll do that when I've finished the first volume and have more time again.
