What do you wish to see more of in webcomics?

We all know the tropes that are so popular they swarm the whole site. The beauty character and the beast character. The romance between the everyday human and the supernatural being. The DnD party and it's variation of adventurers having fun in a fantasy world. Oops I have been reincarnated in a magic world. You name it. It's not that this prompts are bad, they wouldn't be this popular if they were, but they're made by the dozens and sometimes it can feel that it's all you see when it comes to new comics.
So I wanna ask y'all, what are the prompts you wish to see more of in comics?
What is that thing you can't seem to find no matter how you look?
The one you find yourself thinking "am I really the only person who likes this"?

I wish there were more comics about the darker parts of life. My web-comic (still working on the first two pages right now, just need to add text), deals with domestic abuse, suicide and perhaps other things. One of my favorite comics is Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and that deals with some pretty dark things too.

I would love to see more consequences for main characters action frankly, and that it actually hurts the character in question not the people around them

news flash in real life you break the rules bad things happen, not always but the majority of the times rules are made for a reason

I'd really like to see more kid-friendly/young teen friendly thrillers. I LOVE a good scary, gripping story, but I definitely have my limits. It's not that they can't deal with scary subject matter either, I'd just prefer if it was approached more tastefully. I keep being deeply invested in these awesome stories only to have them go waaaay too far for me so I stop reading.

I'd also love to see more romance comics where the intended ships are actually interesting and shippable. Granted, I think romance as a main plot is generally really dull. But it would fun to read a romance where I actually want the characters to get together. (I can think of a couple, but they seem few and far between for me.)

Platonic friendships between characters of the opposite gender/sex. And I mean real two-sided friendships where they truly understand one another and have fun together, not just a thinly veiled 'battle of the sexes' or that thing in 90% of shonen anime where Male MC's girl best friend is actually an extremely obvious surrogate mom. Who secretly or not so secretly wants to marry him.

It's sad that this is still so hard to find in this day and age. At least for me...

Hm. Older people and pets. I love domestic slice-of-life stories of like 40+ people I don't need no plot or adventure, just some heartwarming crap that makes me smile.

Also I like stories about serial killers and human trafficking and all sorta fucked up shit. That are not killing stalking because that was trash fite me I disliked everything about it except for the art.

Also I wish people researched domestic abuse better if they plan to write it, most of what I see is so surface level it makes me roll my eyes.Same goes for mental health stuff.

I know what you mean. My mother has assaulted me since, at least, I was a teen. My head literally made me forget about until she did it again when I was an adult. You don't really see that kind of shit in fiction.

I kinda wish I could show you my comic, but not done with the first pages yet.

I want to see more wholesome stuff, and less edgy stuff that only edgy teens enjoy.

Real life is too f.cked up already, so give me wholesome fiction please, stuff like heartwarming slice-of-life.

All this gritty fiction is a huge turn off for me...

Better comedy or at least more comedy. I feel like a lot of creators are wrapped up in writing grandiose stories with themes and consequences and even more themes that they forget that a story with good comedy is just as good as an action thriller.

Honestly I just want more comics that focus on realistic dialogue between characters. Especially in romances, I can barely stomach a lot of the romance comics because it's too corny for real life. Also with dialogue concerning kids. A lot of kids in comics are like little adults but...real life kids are kind of a mess, you know? Let your teens act like teens, they don't need to have college degrees and be super great at life. Just let teens be silly teens.

I would agree, I'd want to go for some more story based comedy in particular. Comedy that is not just observational.

That advice is hard to follow, specially if you're going for realistic kids in 2019, they're too different from kids in the 2000s, let alone other decades, they play a lot less with toys, and grow out of it a lot sooner.

I want to see a lot of stuff but the one that comes to mind is adventure stories that focus on exploring for the purpose of exploring rather than to defeat some big evil at the end. Like sure justice but a story that's just about connecting with the world and enjoying all it has to offer would be fun. A few might come to mind but I figure if I can't find something I'll make it so I am.

You want One Piece without its villains? that's boring to a lot of people, they want generic conflict, and maybe some real stakes after 10 arcs...

I don't mind villains or conflicts that rise as the protagonist(s) explore but sometimes I feel stories with quests for the big treasure or the final boss at the end lack in the world building department or when they do have it it's in big expositions rather than shown through characters interacting with that world. Only an opinion but one I've wondered if other people happen to share

Honestly though, anything I want would be to damn specific to really be reasonable as a demand. If I look hard enough I can find all kinds of stories and all kinds of rep that I would not be able to find in as many mainstream comics or media. It's pretty diverse if you look at content outside of tapas, or even just in the community comics of this site, which have FAR more selection of tropes and genres then tapas premium, which generally tend to get saturated with less indi / original content and are a lot of licenced translations from Korea (and other countries where webcomics are regarded more as business than an indi endevor)

I just hope to continue seeing creators tell the stories they want to tell instead of creators telling stories they don't really want to tell but know will sell. I went to indi publishing to see more freedom for creators and their stories and less focus testing and investor interference.

I have no idea what you mean, as I worked with kids and teens for the past several years. Toys still exist, it's just not the same type of toys. Kids are certainly no less and no more mature than what I was like when I was a kid.
