What genre of music do you listen to when you draw?

I listen all kinds of music, but I really love TYCHO (Also known as ISO50)

I usually smother all my love to one particular album per week, this week I've been into James Morrison.

If I get sick of it I return to my default work music, Yiruma and Chopin

I'll listen to anything really. Either I'll turn on the radio, or pull something up on YouTube, and whatever shows up will work.
That and I've noticed fast tempo music (rap, metal, dustup etc.) I'll find myself drawing faster, which is pretty good for getting the guidelines, and slower music (classical stuff etc.) is good for final lines since I'm going slower. But the chances of those showing up in that order in pretty rare... its still fun though

I just tune in to Pandora and listen to instrumental jazz/piano tracks. Most of the time, though, I like listening to podcasts.

I listen to a lot of Let's Plays on Youtube. But for actual music, I like the Monstercat channel. They have an awesome collection of music that updates several times a week.

For my main comic it is usually soundtracks for epic fantasies or period pieces (movies and games). Also stuff like Enya, Loreena McKennitt and my bazillion CD collection of random Celtic music. That's for when I need more concentration. But if just illustrating or whatever, shows and movies lend atmosphere but I need ones that don't distract me … so I need to be familiar with them.

For shows and movies I like Lord of the Rings, Stargate SG-1, Merlin, Sword of Truth, Startrek Enterprise, The Hobbit, Narnia….

I also get on unexplainable music kicks. I once made an eight page comic in one week listening to the same four classic romantic love songs. On repeat. It was NOT a romance comic! Then there was the time I got stuck on three DDR songs while doing pages.

I suspect a lot of artists are kind of obsessive about music at times!

I listen to a mix of music o.o usually some kind of metal to put me in the right mood when I draw. My comic Soul Ascendance would definitely play a lot of symphonic metal especially anything like Within Temptation or Nightwish if it was animated.

I usually listen to music while writing scripts (modern classical, mostly Ryuichi Sakamoto and Ludovico Einaudi) but while drawing, I watch videos, which is the only time I have available to do such things.

when I wanna focus I usually just listen to instrumental music with a fast pace. I doesnt really matter the genre for me, I think I just like the fast paced music since it makes me feel like I'm some hero in a video game XD

I usually just listen to any of the 100+ songs I have in my folder... Depending on the picture I'm drawing. If I draw fanart, then I usually play its official soundtrack, the song depending on the type of drawing; if it's sad, I play its sad OSTs, if it's badass and actiony, I play their battle tracks or OP songs, etc.

Or I can just play any song, as long as it fits what I'm drawing.

On the other hand, most of the times I drew my comic, I was endlessly looping my Linkin Park playlist...

I'm listening to podcasts and instrumental (or epic) musics as some people over there. "original" or from films or games. One playlist I like right now is celtic musics ! I really like listening to classic music too. Some Vivaldi's 4 seasons, for example.
Oh and I'm addict to Legend of Korra's musics. I dream of official soundtracks releases of book 2, 3 and 4.

It depends on the scene in the comic. If it's a darker tone, then I listen to metal/J-Rock/K-Rock/Epic soundtracks both instrumental or lyrical(zomg Nox Arcana & Two Steps From Hell are my top choices!!). If it's a lighter tone (like traveling or romance or comedy bits) then I'll listen to Celtic/Folk music :')

Aside from comics, if it's an illustration I'll listen to anything :'D

I tend to mostly listen to music I feel fits my story or fits the mood of a situation I'm drawing in said story.

Or just whatever song I'm obsessed with and having on constant loop for hours on end until I'm sick of it. :V
