What genres are the most effective?

It's an interesting thought I had. I came across a pretty standard hero comic, along the same lines as Spiderman I'd say, and it was categorized under fantasy. I'm curious how that would affect viewing. I mean, people tend to stick by one or two genres they really like, would that at all help? Would it hurt in the long run? What do you guys think?

From what I've learned working online, you have to break up your story into as many genres as possible to get views. Fantasy, for example, is a super catch-all genre. Spiderman is just as much a fantasy as LOTR and a paranormal romance. On pretty much every platform I've been on, fantasy has always been oversaturated. But if you mark your story as fantasy, mystery, adventure, thriller (for example) it makes it 1000x easier for readers to find it.

As a fellow superhero comic enjoyer, I find it a little weird that there isn't a superhero genre, lol. At least action fantasy is kinda close?

Anyway, from what I've heard, Tapas organizes comics/novels by main genre only—you can pick up to three, but only the first one counts—so there could be some merit in picking whichever one is most popular to be your main genre. For example, I've heard that stories featuring romance can get some free views just from setting the main genre as romance (or BL, GL, etc.). Fantasy is also very popular, but it's also very broad, so tagging your superhero comic as fantasy probably won't have a noticeable impact.

I'm making a superhero comic, and while I've gotten a consistent viewerbase, it's mainly from promotion on these threads, I don't see much of a "growing" viewerbase. My main genre was action and I might change it to action fantasy because does anyone even really use the action genre?
At least on Webtoons, while it's small, the superhero genre works because the people that tune in there specifically want to read superhero works.

That’s what I thought. I almost put my comics in the fantasy section, but then I looked at the actual stories in the fantasy section and realized that even among those that would be more action oriented than fantasy like LOTR or the Hobbit, those stories got about as much viewership as say, something from drama (which also doesn’t get a lot of views). So I’ve just been waiting for the time that I actually create a fantasy story.

So what would you reccommend then? Action Fantasy? General Action?
