What Gives You Accomplishment Butterflies?

Finishing a page, especially a multi-page spread... I'm kinda simple.

Illustration wise. When I draw something and it turns out how I imagined it.

When I see my progress on dashboard, even though is kinda little, around 1000+ view more than the last month, I feel really good when the graphic bars are growing. It feels good when you know people are actually reading your comic ^^

Every time I actually finish something, especially with comic pages. A maniacal mad scientist laugh occasionally ensues.

Goodness Everything-- every single time I get a new follower,comment, like, finish a page, post a page I just get this overwhelming sense of pride and happiness I love making comics and it excites me to no end to share them with the world.

I feel those butterflies when I finish something big or something I'm particularly proud of. Sometimes, it's as small as drawing a picture I end up liking a lot more than I thought I would, and sometimes it's a bit bigger than that.

I definitely get the butterflies when I hold something I've made in my hands, finished and printed. When I first held volume 1 of Grassblades in my hands, I actually got a bit overwhelmed. 100 pages of comics and extra content weigh a whole lot more than I thought it would!

Also, whenever a reader reaches out to tell me how my work makes them feel. I love those little messages on my wall. <3

Being able to just finish anything despite arthritis feel like a big accomplishment to me. Even more so when I look at files in the folder and see just how much I was able to finish despite it.

When I manage to finish a coloured piece. I don't have very many of these, as for whatever reason colouring is the most painful process with my arthritis, so I cannot work on it for very long in a day, only around twenty mins before it starts to get painful, so as you can imagine coloured pieces get stretched over a very long period of time and when I finally finish them I feel pretty accomplished.

When I released my series and people actually wanted to read it I got real giddy. I would bounce up and down and be like yassssss people acknowledge the series lol I am easily excitable. When the art team takes my script and turns it into actual pictures each picture makes me happy. When I put certain feelings into something or create something that I want to convey emotions a certain way and people react the same way I do that gives me butterflies. When my friends tell me they are proud of the fact that I have not given up and am working hard every day.

My closest friend told me the other day while I was updating him on my kickstarter progress that he always remebered how when we first met everyone always made fun of me for being a simple silly kind of guy who did not take things serious. People would always think of me as someone who was not very intelligent or always made jokes. He told me that from day one he knew I was someone who worked hard and was way smarter than I lead people to believe and now that I have this series out and have been working as hard as I am. He told me he was unbelevably happy and knew that I could do it. That gave me so many acomplishment butterflies because I had never heard that in my life. It was a mix of acomplishment and acknowlegement butterflies ^.^

Yesterday I finished chapter one of Amaranth, with regular weekly updates. That really made me feel proud because I sometimes got stuck and when this happens I usually tend to procrastinate things. But this time I didn't! I worked through it, even though it's npt perfect, but it's finished. Now I am excited to start chapter 2!

Finishing stuff is the most rewarding thing there is, even though it's hard sometimes to stay the course.

Honestly when someone subscribes, likes, or comments on my series is when I get them, it just makes me happy when I see that other people are happy reading my work
I also might sometimes get them if I finally am able to draw a part of my series that I've wanted to draw for a while.

Every follower I get on my comic feels like an accomplishment! And I honestly treasure every comment that I get. It is always such a burst of joy for me whenever I get either of the two.

Some big accomplishments for me this year however have been getting to speak on a panel at San Diego Comic Con, getting into my first zine, and getting into two comic anthologies!

Comments are my favourite thing, I really enjoy seeing what other people think and how each event effects them, especially compared to what I was trying to achieve. There's also a special kind of magic in knowing someone else feels strongly for one of your imaginary friends. You invest so much of yourself and so much energy into these things, it's nice to know that other people care about them too.

Posting a page or character design and getting notes/faves/reblogs/watches/subs anything really. Makes this grown ass man in to nothing short of a giddy schoolgirl seeing those notifications roll in.

Whenever I finish scripting, thumbnailing or page layout becuase those are my less favorite parts of comic creating so when I can power through them it makes me feel awesome for actually finishing steps I dislike instead of being lazy. 😅

Also when a page turns out exactly how I imagine it, that makes my day!

Also, when a piece of anatomy comes out SOOOO GOOD that I just have to stop and take a breath. Another one would be when I do something digitally that I'm like "HOW DA FUQQ?!" and then completely forget how I did it (digital is not my main medium lol).

Looking back at old pages or just old pieces of work and realizing that, even if things aren't perfect now, the massive amounts of improvements made since. It really shows that with hard work and determination, those scribbles now end up as decent pieces of work that will only get better over time.

Also any time I receive subs, favs, comments or some kind of recognition for my work.
