What got you into Manga/Comics

It's always interesting to incorporate two different country's comic style it makes for an interesiting comic. I was exposed to manga in 8th grade when I got my first Shonen Jump, the art felt like it was out of this world. Something about the manga just drew me in, now I make my own comic for the future readers to enjoy. That's if I market it properly.

Manga had the effect on me too it felt like something I have never seen before when I read manga in 2004. I didn't bring my comic onto the internet until 2011, I was waiting to publish it first but that took too long and I wanted to see what people thought of my work. Before Tapastic I was at another comic hosting site called InkBlazer. The community was friendly and the layout of the site was pretty neat. I stayed there until it shut down. I manage to make a friend and we still are friends. His name Peacuch. Tapastic felt foreign to me for the first month but, I got the hang of it felt easy to use and the community is just as friendly as InkBlazer.

I didn't get into the indie comic scene until 2011 so I didn't join for quite awhile. Seeing the comics that other indie comic artist do and the professionally published one made me feel like making comics is what I want to do.

I was blown away but manga as well when I saw in it my first Shonen Jump magazine I got in 2004. I didn't know it existed until now so it was like it was from another world.

I am like you these days I don't have time to read comics, however I read plenty of indie comics because I feel a connection with those, they are people just like me.

I started drawing comics in middle school, during that time I was making gag comics so nothing too serious. The anime I watched did also influence me to make a more serious comic and that is when my first comic Darkness Within was born, that was in 2006. Despite the story being an utter mess I enjoyed making the comic it felt so great to make my own comic.

Ironically I drew manga long before I actually started reading it lol. I also looked at pages for references and stuff but I never fully followed one until I read Naruto. Naruto really got me into manga and then I studied it to take my skills to another level. The art style of Naruto still heavily influences my art. Admittedly to fault maybe lol

I know when I was on hiatus from August 2014 to May 2015 from my first comic I fault very very weird. I dedicated over 3 years of my life on this one comic and I really felt lost. So I knew I had to get back into creating comics again and I came up with an idea and it will hit internet October 2nd =D

No I never finished a comic series yet and I don't ever seeing that happen because both series the one that is on hiatus will becoming back and it has at least 6 to 12 years of telling plus I really enjoy it so much =D

And this new one I have so many plans for it not only in comics, but also in animations etc. =D

I was into superheroes in the mid-late 80s, but didn't get into the actual comics until the early 90s, when I was swept up in a huge resurgence in Marvel comics. They fucked everything up and nearly when bankrupt I believe in the mid 90s though, which meant I dropped out of it until about the mid 2000s. It took me since then to develop my skills to a point where I felt I could enter the field myself.

what got me into reading manga was anime, specifically Naruto. Naruto was the first anime I ever watched, and when I caught up to what had been released at that point, it was the beginning of the Pain arc, aka a really bad place to be left hanging. I hadn't been interested in reading manga or comics up until that point, but I had to know what happened next. After that, I realized how much I enjoyed reading manga and comics. The rest was history.

As for what got me into drawing comics, it was a Fan made video for Kingdom Hearts. I hadn't played the games (at that point), but I was obsessed with the song "Viva la Vida", and the video was set to that song. It was really an awesome video, and when I saw the pretty pretty characters I thought "I want to be able to draw that!" and so I started learning how to draw. I really only dabbled in art until I got a tablet, though. But that's another story ^.^

Been drawing since I was little and have made quite a few of my own comics. Decided one day that the comic I'm working on now, Life of an Aspie which previously was nothing more than a cache of ideas bouncing around in my head, was a story that I needed to get out of my brain and deliver to the general public.

The first comics that I saw was my Uncle's and Mom's Filipino 'Komiks'. I didn't understand a word but I 'read' the pictures instead. After that it was Calvin and Hobbes, Garfield, Asterix and Tintin. Then I started watching anime on TV which was aired after school. I found out later on that the anime I have been watching had manga but English translations were rare so I had to do my usual 'reading' of panels. I went back to them later on and surprisingly, I got most of the information right. xD
I started reading American comics in high school because it was the only time my parents allowed me to see that kind of 'visuals'. Lol!
During that time in high school, my bros and I were playing around with ideas on making a comic of our own. I have been writing plays for the Drama Club and the bookworm so obviously, I had to write it. We had the whole team but of course, that didn't happen but I kept writing and here I am. - Grim

I started to get into manga and comics 12 years ago. My babysitter's way of making sure we just stay there quiet was switching onto cartoon networks and let us watch cartoon. Back then was Akazukin Cha Cha and Ninja Senshi Tobikage. Then that grew my interest in Japanese anime/manga and that led me to Dragon Ball, Sailormoon, all those 90s stuff. And to my parents' dismay, that interest never waned haha.

When I was really young I was super into Pokemon, DBZ and Sailor Moon. For some reason they just kinda jumped out to me more than regular western cartoons. I started drawing like them and then when I was 14 I found Naruto and was blown away that it could look semi realistic.

My mom used to read us Asterix as bedtime stories when we were little. It's all been downhill from there!

I've been reading comics ever since - but for some reason, it didn't really click with me that I could make comics until I was, like, 16. I'd been trying desperately to write novels, because I knew I wanted to tell stories (and I might still get back to writing novels/short stories some day), but one day, I decided to have a go at drawing comics, and after that, I never really stopped. It was like coming home.

You're stuck with me now, comics-world!

For Manga, i got started with Rurouni Kenshin when I was in 6th Grade in 2002 I think. Anime, I started back with Speed Racer, Pokemon, Digimon, Dragonball, Tenchi, Slayers, whatever i could watch on Tech TV, International Channel, and saturday morning cartoons.

Well I started drawing sequential art when I was really young, I was trying to create my own stories because I thought the ones I watched on TV were so awesome.

But I never really read any manga/comics until I watched Shaman King and sought out the manga. I still read more manga than comics but my style is definitely more western.

Comics was so woven in out DNA we couldn't leave it behind. The second story you plan with the animation I would to scale it down just a little so it doesn't take a long to animate. I have first hand experience animation takes time and my brother also and animator so I know the time and dedication required for it. I would gather a team of animators through KichStarter or any other team recruitment website. If you don't have the funds for you could make a short that describes the comic you want to animate.

Alot can change in a span of ten years. I was making gag comics and didn't consider a serious comic 10 years ago.

Video games can also be a powerful motivator to writing comics in my opinion. My favorite video game Baten Kaitos Origins inspired me to make a comic with the protagonist that was similar to the video games protagonist. My three favorite characters I have encountered are all from video games. (excluding my own characters)
