What Got You Started Drawing for Comics?

For me it was inspiring that's comics could be so funny. Though I didn't start making comics till my art improved. I drew characters that looked like Simpsons.

for me it was story telling. I've been drawing and making stories since I was able I just didn't grow out of it.

Do to my poor syntax (dyslexic) I prefer to visually tell stories since it communicates what I mean faster! The trick is though learning the whole artistic language AND honing your art so that is actually describes what it is I'm mentally seeing.

Comic's was a natural art form I turned too. it just makes sense to me much more than any other media. Its a combination of cinematography, illustration & screenplay writing

I remember that when I was really young I drew some comics inspired by/modeled after/ripped-off from Quino's Mafalda, which my mom had the entire series laying around. Ever since then I've been, well, drawn to draw comics.

Stories were my favorite things growing up. I loved to read, and wrote several "books" (around 17 pages each... c'mon I was a child) and one 6 volume (about 20 pages each) dragon ball z (featuring mostly original characters) fan fiction "manga". This is something that I've always wanted to do, and though I may give myself a ton of grief because I'm no where near as good as I feel like I should be, I really do love it. It may get me no where in life, but seeing this particular story that I've been working on since middle school come to life truly makes my heart glow

My husband, Hobz, and the co-creator on our comic got me into reading and creating comics. We both graduated from AiFL, art college, with degrees in animation, however, it's always been his goal to be a sequential artist working on his own stories.I graduated with plans on being a 2D animator for TV networks like Cartoon Network or Nick. However, it was really only after graduating that network tv animators jobs have been outsourced leaving mainly only pre-production artwork positions.

Oops Comic Adventure was originally an idea for a fun short animation series (Animaniacs like), however the weight of trying to maintain an animation series was too much for just me. That's when Hobz and I came up with the idea of teaming up and making our own project. We both big advocates on encouraging kids to read and draw, and decided to make a kid friendly comic (no gore, sex, bad language, teaching a few good pearls of wisdom and morals around fun likable characters). So I took Oops's slap stick spoof comedy concept and morphed it into a much grander story.

Comics like Jeff Smith's Bone, Calvin and Hobbes, Avatar the Last Airbend, and anything Scottie Young are big influences on me. I'm also a big fan of Sean Murphy and Stjepan Sejic's Death Vigil.

I remember writing up stories that never really finished,but i got the inspiration to start drawing a comic
from sisters who were drawing way before me and my little brother's comics,it was something we enjoyed doing together.:)

My first few comics were ones I created when I was very little. Then, about two years ago I discovered webcomics and thought it was fun to be able to share stories so easily through the internet, so I wanted to do just that. I did a few "fan comics" here and there and didn't start creating my own until this year. I like creating characters and I wanted to share them with others, so here I am.

Long before I got interested in manga, I've been writing stories and sharing them with what few friends I had.
As I always sat with a few grade-school kids on the bus ride to school, I also had a habit of drawing short children's stories for them, and that evolved into my interest in making comics.

I was jobless when I started my comic. It gave me a life goal xD
Then, since I fixed the publication to 1 page per week, I took it as a challenge ^^
I'm working on my webcomic since 2010, 170 pages drawn, I'm pretty proud of it ^^

I think my comic drawing days started out in middleschool when I met a childhood friend of mine and we began to draw comics together with characters we made up. Over the years they grew up with us, and even though the story's now complete we still look back on it with fondness. I don't think I ever grew out of the joy of illustrating these stories, so I'm still making them today (although it's only been recent that I started posting them online).

Heh that awesome. Comic is another form of stories, though in school it does not count as real books people suppose to read during school. I wasn't allow to even read comics at school.

A lot people are interested manga, and anime somehow a person goes though something in the lines in mangas.

Ah! I was living in my parents house ^^
My job has nothing to do with drawings (I'm a computer engineer), but during about 5 months of job research, I was pretty pessimistic and I spent my day watching tv ^^; ... Then I said to myself : you have a lot of time, do something creative !

children do create the cutest things, your going to get somewhere with your comic. You could become an animator if you wanted
