I would probably quit my job, hired an extra artist, and rent out a studio. After that, my comic will be my priority and I will actually have a schedule set up for it lol.

Well, I have a novel. But I would immediately start taking social media more seriously so fans/readers can keep up with me, and put all my effort into a second book unrelated to the series to start marketing and sharing with my audience while the excitement about the first book is still high

I would hope it was for a good reason and not a bad reason.

I am a bit shy, so I am not 100% sure what I would do. I might set up a merch shop because I have been struggling with money and something like that would really help.

That would truly be a dream come true for me. Literally! And I would use my fame to lift up everyone who helped me get there by giving them jobs too.

well after overcoming the initial shock and finding out the source [if possible] it just makes sense to try and capitalize on the momentum sharing other works of mine, ways to support me and hopefully keeping the ball rolling

if there's one thing i feel like ive learned from an observational standpoint is that short term fame doesnt always equal long term success so finding a way to keep those curious few permanently hooked is another thing i'd keep in mind

Well, there's a process in my head for such an occasion:

1) Sit there wondering why it went viral...
2) Keep doing what I'm doing with the comic/random illustrations, cause I probably wouldn't notice it's viral, or assume it's a fleeting trend...
3)...When it finally hits me, maybe try making a Patreon for "bonus" content if people were really interested...Maybe merchandise, if I figure out how to do it, that is (I'm clueless XD)

My novel "Lyra's Magnum Opus" got over 100 reads today out of nowhere so if this trend continues... I'd start a Twitter or other social media where I can constantly update and let readers know what's going on. Sell merch. Draw my characters being cute for that merch. Publish on Kindle so people can have physical copies of the books and ebooks. Etc etc.

From what I understand from authors who have actually gone viral or gotten successful crowdfunding... Going viral overnight still won't pay the bills. Want to keep a steady job while creating. Especially since episode/issue releases have gaps between and your landlord won't care about gap in payments. Thus is the life and cost of a starving artist.
