What improvement are you proudest of?

Probably my writing and storytelling in general. I try to make things clearer but more detailed at the same time. My current novel is a "rewritten" version of the previous one, and I'm glad a reader thought I have improved.

Not only that, I am glad that I have somewhat improved myself in art (although not that significant), and gave my series a better cover.

I'm still improving and I haven't exactly discovered which among the improvements that I'm the most proud of. But if I were to pick one, it would definitely be the gradual art style in each of my new webcomic strips.

Definitely speed. Before I was making pages at a rate of roughly a page a month. Nowadays I sped up to being able to make 4 pages in roughly 2-3 weeks. Meaning that I now can even have a buffer of pages, and release them more or less consistently!

That's certainly nothing to sneeze at! I know as a reader I love looking at the newest page of a comic vs the oldest and seeing how much it's changed.

The fact that I can just draw hands now. It used to be such a stressful ordeal for any hand position ever. But now they're just another part of the panel no problem.

I can draw ears. For the longest time I either hide them or make all my OC's have animal ears, now I ain't hiding those ears any longer.

Oh and my lines aren't much of a thick choppy mess any more. And I only have to do 1 sketch instead of 3 before the line art.

@darkone4587 Congrats on independently publishing your own comic! I know that feeling well.

My biggest improvement, I would have to say drawing backgrounds. I've always struggled in college in layout classes, I loved that kind of work, but I truly suck at it and I'm slow. I put a lot of extra effort on this series to push my skill and gain some speed at creating them.
I'm now on my 5th chapter and I've gained some speed and some confidence. I'm not a whiz at BG's, but I'm definitely better than 5 years ago when finished my first comic book. You can see a real difference.

Getting a lot better at characters actually looking like they're touching one another (whether that be something like bumping shoulders, holding hands or the more intimate stuff)

It took a year and a half of rewriting the same short story to finally get the best version of it, and that involved cutting so much and refining everything else.

To give a bit of background, I sent a user a message about collabing together for a short story like 24-30 pages in length, and they agreed under the condition of writing it in 10. My stories always ended up getting longer than anticipated so I asked for references and basically got their direct advice of cutting everything down to the absolute minimum and that just stuck with me. It needed to lmao

The biggest improvement here is efficiency in pacing. The original version of the story would've been two, maybe three times as long to the version I'm aiming for now. Other improvements involve making characters more sensible, setting the scenes better, an overhaul of the lore, and even just.. wordiness. We don't talk in full pragraphs anymore yayyy

Hopefully not jinxing myself here (oops), but I'm proud that I'm finally achieving some consistency! I recently remade my webtoon, and looking back at the old chapters, I can really see how inconsistent my style was. I also am happier with my current direction!
Here is my old vs. new cover...I still like the old one, but I think the new cover more accurately reflects my new style!
