Šarratum means "queen" in the Ancient Akkadian language. The Šarru are a people who live in the Skies in my story, or rather in a land that according to humans would be above their heads and that they cannot penetrate. Šarru means "king" in Akkadian and it is a reference to the Hebrew word "malakh", used to identify angels, and also meaning king. She is the "main" character (main character is a big word).
At some point in life, she will be called Ašratum (a poetic word for "heaven" in Akkadian), lady of the steppes, in reference to the Ugaritic goddess of fertility, wife of Adad, lord of the floods. So, of course, there is a character Adad, in reference to the Ugaritic/Sumerian/Akkadian god of storms and thunder. And his lover, Attar, in reference to the Ugaritic god of war, who replaced Adad as god of gods for a brief period.
There are plenty of other characters. Nemru, leopard. Niqû, human sacrifice. Bašmu, a legendary snake.
I guess that I am inspired by Mesopotamian mythology for both the plot and the names. They had some exciting and pretty horrible things happening between them gods.
