Ok after some thinking I got a few I like,
Also my story is poly so I thought it would be fair for them to have a song between each ^^
Vernon / Azreth - Baby its cold outside (you choose which version you like the most)
Their love is quite 'old fashioned' Azreth is always trying to slowly break down Vernon's barriers and slowly over the story he succeeds... And this is exactly what this song is about so it fits them perfectly ^^
Vernon / Grey - Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know?
I like this one particularly because it fits BOTH of their attitudes towards one another, they are both shy guys, even if Vernon is a bit more knowledgeable of matters of the heart he is hesitant... so both of them slowly getting used to the idea of turning their platonic love into actual love is a fun thing to see, at least for me.
Azreth / Grey - Hot Blooded - Foreigner
The fun thing about this is that while both their relationships with Vernon are on a slow double boiler bath, their relationships to each other acts as sort of catalyst of sexual energy, they know what each other wants and are more than happy to deliver...And when they are not on top of one another, they are both thinking about it and teasing each other around. It's the encapsulation of those bromances you see in other stories, but RAW like two teenagers in heat.
Vernon / Azreth / Grey - Axwell Λ Ingrosso - Something New
Funnily enough this is the least romance of all the songs above, but it fits their relationship trio really well, I wanted a song that made you pumped for being alive, a song that makes you just feel good without having to worry about much else, an upbeat and spirit lifting song.
Just like their meeting and relationship lifts all three of them, together they are no longer just disconnected pieces of sadness drifting thought nothing,
Together they are a force to be reckoned, but also an inspiring and generally fun loving.
The main relationship in my comic (In The Woods Somewhere!) isn't a fantaaaastically healthy one, and all the songs that make me think about it are somewhat creepy, haha.
Return
Been gone too long
Return
Don't make me beg
And they’ll try
They'll try
They’ll try
To keep us apart
And they’ll try, they’ll try
They'll try
To keep us apart
But yes we can
You brought us this far
We’ll do what we can
Return
Don’t put me on
Return
Don’t make me beg
Return
And they’ll try
They’ll try
They’ll try
To keep us apart
And you’ll try, you all try
You’ll try
To keep us apart
But yes we can
You brought us this far
We’ll do what we can
Blood Brothers is a great song. You took it first but it would sorta work for my series. At a certain point both of the main characters, the she-orc and the human man become berserkers which involves the shedding of blood for power.
Also as a female/male pair it wouldn't quite fit. I'll have to find a different one.
If I had to describe all the relationships in my story with a single song, it would be:
It's a love song, but it can also be interpreted to be a song about all types of positive relationships. I have characters who bonded because of being bullied together, uncomfortable family lives, trauma, and sometimes just pure admiration.
Sometimes those feelings can be unhealthy and borderline obsessive, while other times they can help aid in the emotional healing process. It just depends.
Either way, life goes on, right?
It's currently still a WIP, but I've realized that this song works weirdly well in describing the villains' views of the protagonist for my upcoming comic Tales of Phaeton.
For pete's sake, the opening lyrics are even "I was on top of the world, living high. It was right in my pocket. I was living the life,.Things were just the way they should be When from out of the sky like a bomb comes some little punk in a rocket. .Now all of a sudden some strange things are happening to me" Which is exactly how my comic's story kicks off amusingly enough.
There's little in the way of romance in my story;
the focus is much more on friendship and comradery.
The song "Rather Be" by Clean Bandit best captures that feeling.
While it's meaning seems more romantic,
talking about being "miles from comfort" and "we're different and the same" fits the idea of a group of friends on a road trip adventure.
A more specific relationship is between an assassin and her aunt;
their family specialises in a technique that strips them of emotions,
and the song "Numb" by Linken Park captures that idea of being devoid of emotion, while also talking about being distant from a parent figure.
The version that I listen to to get my head in the zone for writing her is the Amy B acoustic version; the softer tempo and female singer match the character a lot more.
I found Two Birds from Regina Spektor after I began my comic, but it honestly fits my two leads Jaime and Jade better than anything else I've found. It's kind of scary to me, honestly.
One of them is constantly wanting to go go go, while the other stays behind out of fear and anxiety, apoligizing for doing so and being who they are. The former says it's fine and stays with them, and both agree that they can do it later. Both know that their lying.
This is pretty much the tragic core of a lot of Jaime and Jade's relationship, and this song articulates it better than I ever could, frankly!
Comic is a Drama/Comedy with some light Romance! It's about Jaime and Jade, two teens in the 1970's, on a road trip across America! Also, Jade is a zombie, that's worth mentioning.
