What is my art style considered as? whats anime art?

this is my art style... I used to watch anime a lot during my seventh grade which was like 3 years ago when i started drawing, so anime really inspired me to draw but people around me hated that type of art and so whenever people would watch me draw Id force a semi realistic cartoon thing. So because of that my art was very inconsistent from going back and forth drawing what others like and what i like. I guess that left a big impact, Im more confident in drawing because i started posting my art online ( im still hesitant to show people in real life). I consider my art anime, it has a lot of anime features... but i wanna hear from others and their standard for anime style

Hi! So I would definitely consider this anime derivative! I think the face structure and method of drawing hair is closer to traditional anime. However, I think that your style for drawing the facial features (eyes, mouth etc) and your lineart style is far from what I think of when I think of 'anime.' I think your shading style is also unique. I think that someone that doesn't watch/read anime/manga commonly would definitely classify it under 'anime-ish,' but I would say you have a style of your own! I have the same issue/question with my own style and I have had both anime and non-anime said. Here's just a small sample of it

pretty much what @VikiKuli said! i can see the anime influence, but I wouldn't consider it 'traditional' anime style. my work is pretty similar when it comes to the eyes

Well, to do anime first you got to animate the art, then have all the voice acting and text in Japanese... Alright, seriously, most Japanese animators and comic artist have their own styles going on. The whole country doesn't consist of one style. "But asshole, aminu and mango style has big eyes and tiny noses!" So do western styles, hell Japanese animation was originally influenced by western animation.
Just develop a style you feel comfortable with, if you want to be like the Japanese learn the language and culture. Study from life, study from artists you admire, and who cares of people don't like it... I mean, learn to tell when someone is giving you constructive, but don't let people tell you to change just cuz they don't like your style.

I'd have to disagree, there are always variations on the take but they tend to have similar kinds of stylistic proportions and "symbolic" features given to characters. Popular anime and manga mostly follows this trend- overall the features tend to be less defined and in many cases more "pointed". If we're talking about manga, then you get differences in everything from page layouts to storytelling even apart from stylistic choices that separate manga from western comics. And that's not to say there aren't more artistic differences, like the choice in how the inkwork is handled. Yes your style could be considered very anime like though also juvinile. You are young also.

I must make a point to establish that you should focus on improvement and learning how to draw humans rather than imitate your friends or professionals in the field. Even if I don't agree with Bloomer, if you want to be a good artist, you need to learn how to grasp the feeling of life in your art. You don't have to stop drawing what you want. But you must have foundations for it to be effective.

Sorry, just gonna derail for a second.

Wouldn't this apply to most if not all regions? Not just Japan? Why are only Japanese artists logged under one umbrella "style"? Isn't that kind of rude to the artists who have varying degrees of experience and education?

Soooo you're saying because the art is "pointy" all these Japanese cartoons have the same style?

Well no duh, their language reads differently from ours, their culture is different. It's only natural that their storytelling and page layouts would be different. I never said their comics were the same as ours to begin with, I said that anime was inspired by western animation. Which it was, Osamu Tezuka, the pioneer of anime and creator Astro Boy was influenced by Disney. Anime and manga are two different things.
My whole argument is that anime/manga is not a style, and that style is a product of the artist. Not a comparison of western versus Japanese.

I could see how people could take it as anime inspired, but at the same time, anime is so varied in styles depending on the artist, so I guess it's up to how you see your art. I kinda got started with art through anime when I was younger and it definitely showed in my style so I get it, but idk, I feel the more I draw the more my style changes and evolves so I don't know what it is anymore, and I stopped bothering with defining it, I'm just doing what I like haha.

Anyway, I guess I'm trying to say; you do you, your style is cool and nice to look at so you could probably define it however you please and people will most likely go with the flow.
