What is my comic genre suppose to be?

Hi guys,

I don't know what comic genre should i choose for my comic.

The main story is inspired from the book of genesis in the bible but not like the ussual comic bible. I blend it with science and history, and add some action and romance.

I confuse to choose between action, fantasy or sci-fy.

Out of those genres you're considering, which one do you plan on incorporating the most elements from?

It doesn't SUUUUPER matter, like, nobody's gonna come in and be like THIS ISN'T THE RIGHT GENRE, YOU'RE FIRED or anything!

There isn't a genre option that's representative of what your comic seems to be trying to do, but I'd think with what you have up now, either Fantasy or Action would be the closest match (esp considering the snake fight (action), and the fact that the Bible stories have been embellished(fantasy)).
If it were me, I'd probably go with Action -- people who are looking for a Fantasy comic are looking for something different, and anyone who's interested in a more exciting take on Bible stories explored genuinely might be turned off by a Fantasy label. I don't know your personal feelings about the Bible, but if you feel weird putting Bible stories under "Fantasy" then go ahead and use Action! If you feel like Action is a bad match because you don't plan to tell many Bible stories that have big action in them and you're okay with Fantasy, go ahead and use Fantasy!

It's really not a big deal -- I almost never look at genre when finding new comics! So whatever you are comfortable with is fine!

My advice would be to put it in the fantasy category since you'r talking about the creation of life and the earth. There is a mythological aspect to the Thales of the bible.

I think the matter is the reader is not gonna like the comic if it's wrong room.
for instance, make an serious action comic and put in comedy genre.
people who read comedy expect something funny but gets something serious.

I think action is a good idea. tx

I have a habit of changing the genre depending on what the most relevant activities of the current chapter are focusing on.

It's just REALLY ****ing weird I think when I go to a comic labeled 'comedy' and it's some epic fight scene where people are bleeding all over the place and such. Or of a 'comedy' it's some really heartfelt moment that is ripping it's readers to shreds and making them cry in corners. (cause long form comedy series can indeed have moments like that even when the majority of it is comedy) It's kinda a thing with story telling. A story doesn't often consist or even focus on a single theme, sometimes they don't even have a single MAIN genre, Especially now when combined genres (intentionally or unintentionally) are so popular.

As someone who actually does believe in rather large swaths of the faith, classifying a religious comic a "fantasy" is a sure fire way to piss a lot of people off. It's honestly pretty disrespectful, and I'd give you the same advice no matter what religion you were covering. (Even old stuff like the Roman Pantheon that most nobody still believes in would be better classified as "Mythology")

Honestly your best bet is probably action, as this site doesn't have a specific genre for religiously themed works.

(Tho maybe you shouldn't be doing a comic on religion when you haven't studied it, and do not believe in it, just throwing that out there)

Genre is kind of a fake concept anyway. Kind of. I guess some people deliberately set out to write within a specific genre. But as a way to categorize art in general, it's a little dubious. There's no hard and fast rule for exactly what separates an Action story, from a Thriller story, from a Horror story. All that setting a genre really does is make a work easier to market.

I called my comic a Drama because I had to pick something, even though I don't think it really conveys the type of story it is.
