I've recently been into anime and ofc I am so glad to be in different fandoms in different anime!
Personally my favourite is Tokyo Ghoul because it is gore, psychological and horror (I like that stuff)
Furthermore the character designs are awesome with a twisted backstory for each of them.
My favourite quotes was that ' it is better to be hurt than hurt others'. It rlly shows how the mc takes after his mother and is too weak to stand up to others.

Try Code Geass. It has been years since I've watched it but it's still in my top five list. I liked it when Lelouch said, “You can't change the world without getting your hands dirty.” It summarizes his actions throughout the whole series.

It's about a nerdy socially awkward woman who rooms with other nerdy women. The MC meets a boy who likes to crossdress and he helps the MC (and the other women) with their self confidence. It's really cute and funny.

All-time favorite anime and movie in general is Princess Mononoke. :]

I've watched it more times than I could count, but the beginning English narration never fails to give me chills.

Texhnolyze, simply because it's very atmospheric, primal, bleak and Sisyphean in nature, and yet, you find yourself rooting for the lead characters despite all the trials and tribulations they go through, with all odds being against their favor. Also it was made by the same team behind Serial Experiments Lain, which is also one of my favorite anime.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - easily my most favorite anime of all time - has a lot of good quotes.

Like Kamina's catchphrase "Believe in the me that believes in you", "Your drill is the drill that will pierce the heavens" or "Do the impossible and kick logic to the curb"!
The most memorable quote, besides the speech in episode 11, is one Simon says during the final fight: "We evolve, beyond the person that we were a minute before. Little by little, we advance with each turn. That’s how a drill works".
I always come back when going through a rough time and need that pep-talk to motivate myself and it always works, even more in the 2nd recap movie where they added a lot more to that scene.

I'd say Shakugan No Shana, the show, the manga and the light novel... And games?

It has influenced my art style and my writing style. My favorite quote from the show was "Don't forget about me" where the protagonist expressed his frustration on the idea that once he disappeared from the world people won't ever remember who he is. From a personal level this quote becomes more and more relatable as people nowadays are scrambling to create things that will make them "live forever." Odd1stOut and Domics even made videos about it and it really do got thinking if creating is truly the only way to truly live forever. After all, in Shakugan no Shana the protagonist did exactly that, he wanted to create something that will keep him "alive" forever in people's memories.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the show has the best soundtrack composer of all time, at least imo. The dude, Ootani Kou composed soundtracks for other anime too like Zatch Bell, Another, Gundam Wing, etc etc, including games. Also, artist who illustrated the story is the same person that illustrated for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Anyway, sorry about that little rampage edit.

I got three. Macross: Do You Remember Love? I remember this cool scene where two ace pilots go at it (one a alien chick, one a dude) until they both fight in a dark room and nearly get each other killed. They both get out of their cockpits because they're exhausted but then the male pilot just looks at the alien girl and just says "... Beautiful". And then the alien girl is confused and she replies "... Beautiful?". Like "wha is this fool talking about".

Jojo has my favorite tough guy quotes of all time. "Did you say something? Were you talking into my ass...? Because i can't hear anything with my ass..."

Disastorous Life of Saiki K. Not a quote, but there's this funny scene where Saiki is walking with his two friends and they see a kid about to get hit by a truck. One of the friends jumps in front of it, thinking he'll save the kid (he isn't smart). Saiki, being OP af, uses his time travel ability to figure out a way to save both. The catch is he can only rewind like ten seconds.

So the entire episode is literally him just trying to save them but screwing up every single way possible (he says this has been going on for days or something) until he says "SCREW IT! I NEED TIME TO THINK!" and he flat out lets the truck run over his friend and the kid off-screen. We don't SEE the accident, we just see Saiki think to himself calmly while we hear his other friend screaming in this traumatized manor. Then he rewinds time again, he finds a way, and everything is happily ever after.

Actually I think I have a quote. There's a scene where Saiki is walking with one of his friends. He gets jumped by a bunch of delinquents. The delinquent asks Saiki to "pay-up" and he literally hands him his wallet but not before putting his finger on the main delinquent's forehead for like four seconds. Now, Saiki's usually portrayed as this reserved, quiet, and peaceful character, but for a split second we just see his vindictive side where he says "blood is going to be coming out of every pore in three months".

Fav huh, hmmm there are so many, but if I had to pick one I'd go with Howl's Moving Castle (It has dethroned Vampire Hunter D XD). It's my feel-good anime and I can watch it whenever wherever and always be out in a better mood.

If you meant series, then I'd go with Gankutsuou bc first of all the story hits hard on classical drama and is such an epic revenge plot, but also mad crazy heart-wrenching. The Visual direction for it is also experimental and I found it ridiculously beautiful, though some folks won't be able to watch it because of that. I do warn folks to wear sunglasses on the gold room episode though.

Modern anime I have to say Toradora! and Love Chunibyo and Other Delusions are great and the animation is fantastic. I love that Love Chunibyo and Other Delusions has a call back to Oh, My Goddess in it.
For anime I grew up with in no particular order: Robotech (watched it in release), Venus Wars, Riding Bean, Bubblegum Crisis, Original 2D Appleseed, Robot Carnival (some of the best 2D hand drawn work to ever be made) and of course Akira.

Anime Series? Then I'd say that Yu Yu Hakusho is my favorite one. YYH is the only show where I watch the dub. Saiki K, Iruma-Kun, Cutie Honey and JoJo: Battle Tendency are also series I like a lot. My favorite quote has to be Joseph Joestar's classic "Your next line is..."

Anime Film? Then that would be Lupin III's Castle of Cagliostro. Absolute beauty of a film and a beautiful classic.
