What is your main reason or passion for drawing your comic

I grew up with acute anxiety and as a result I found it near impossible to make friends. I created a bunch of superheroes, as you do as a kid, and these characters and their stories kept me company throughout this time. When I became ill recently I knew I'd need something to keep me busy, so I came back in to webcomics and felt I needed to breathe life in to these old friends of mine as a big thanks. The result was Heroes of the World and Beyond.

One of my main reasons for working on Wednesday 7 is to kind of do a psychoanalysis of myself in a way? All my characters are different reflections of my character and personality, and I think that goes for a lot of comic creator. As I watch where my characters go and grow, I go and grow with them! (Hope that makes sense)

I've always had an itch to draw and also an itch to tell stories, trying many different mediums to do so. I always come back to comics, it's been a love of mine since I was a tiny fellow. Just gotta create to satisfy my soul.
This particular story I'm telling in my comic H.M.M. is something that's really haunting me and I must let it out. It eventually gets into ugly aspects of our world and I can't help but tackle it cryptically through a comic.

i mean, my main drive is essentially passion for the story, and passion for comics. i love everything about the medium. also, like, haha, the more experience i get in webcomics the easier itll be if i manage to go professional (still figuring out how to do that tho)

its also a good motivator for the book version that im writing, bc it gives me serialised deadlines to get stuff done by.

I'm really young and I hope to go into comics in the future. I figured why not do one now? So my main drive is just to prove that I can do it! I guess it's not the coolest reason...

I also have trouble committing to projects, so I'm working on a longer comic (about 150-200 pages) to try and improve that aspect of myself.

My main drive for making my comics is to give my characters a sense of backstory and character development as the comic's story progresses. I've had a majority of my characters for years and I believe drawing a comic to show how they behave seems to be the easiest approach for me.

In an artist perspective, I strive to keep improving, so I feel like making comics is also a great way to do that and try new things!

Um, boredom mostly. I don't have a lot to do with my time really... and out of a feeling of obligation because, hey, I've been at this for two years so why stop now? ^^

Mainly because I love it, obviously. I want to make a story I'd personally love to read, and hope others do as well. Comics are my way to express myself, and I like to think I'm good at it. Thanks to websites like Tapastic people can easily find and follow my story, and hopefully by comic if it ever gets published.

Interesting question. For my current comic, Godrilla, I'm drawing it to get a handle on making comics digitally. However, my general passion when it comes to creating comics is that I would like to tell the sorts of stories that appeal to the kid in me.

I was "reading" comics before I could ever actually read, and the sorts of adventures and drama that would unfold on the printed page left such an impact on me then, that I have always wanted to recreate that experience for someone else.

For me it was to keep doing art every day. When I went into college I actually took a four year hiatus form drawing I didn't even doodle! It was pretty bad and I missed drawing so much, but unfourtunatly at the time between two jobs and 5 college classes a semester my inspiration and motivation to draw was kind of killed. Thats why I started Kings I promised myself I would never stop myself from drawing again and since then I've started regaining all the skill that I lost during that time.

For me and Nocturne, I'm viewing it as a fun way to prepare myself and practice skills I need for the jobs I want to do in the future. I'm an animation student and my goal positions in the pipeline are in either the storyboarding or visual development departments. Working on this comic has been a way for me to explore visual storytelling in a way very similarly to how I could approach storyboards, as well has given me an opportunity to practice my overall design sense (matching all of the design elements of the story together to create a specific mood or aesthetic). In general it has been good for strengthening my overall art skills, as in the upcoming chapter I've put a lot more thought and effort into the consistency/quality of my character drawings and complexity of my backgrounds/layout work.

I've also been working on animated films for Nocturne on the side, which of course has given me general animation/cinematography practice as well. Basically I'm just doing what I'm passionate about and intend to do in the workforce once I graduate but on my own terms and conditions with this project.

At first working on my comic was just an excuse to spend more time with my boyfriend (now husband). I loved passing the creative ball back and forth with him. Years later my work on Kamikaze gave me more than I could ask for. I hit a massive depressive state, and despite all the blessings I had life didn't seem worth living. The only things that kept me going were my husband and my desire to tell Markesha's story. I felt like they were all I had. When depression puts your life at risk you unconsciously cling to whatever you can to stay alive. I buried myself in work, doing everything in my power to stay focused on something that wasn't my inner demons.

Creating Kamikaze literally saved my life. I give it everything I have because doing anything less would be disrespectful. <3

I'm also in the boat of "Telling stories keeps me living". Maybe it's a good thing I'm a bit of a control freak, because the idea of dying and having someone else take over my story sounds awful! ;d So even in the worst of times, I know I have to stick around so long as I have a story to tell.

It especially motivates me when people express that they relate to the comic or it brought them happiness; if I can make at least one person feel a little less alone, then that's worth something.

Also I've spent so much time developing these various characters and worlds, it feels like a waste to keep them all trapped in my head. Making comics helps me free up all that brain space by putting that stuff out into the real world and letting other people look at it. D:

I guess there are several reasons for why I'm creating comics. Firstly, I'm a game developer and have a part time job, which means I work nearly 150% every week, comics are to me a very relaxing medium to work with, after a long week, it's the kind of work that I can cool down with.
