What keeps you pushing on even with low subs?

OKAY I would be a liar if I would say I don't want to be popular I think every artist kinda want to be popular a little.

I keep pushing because even with low subs I still have subs who are waiting for my story c:

I've been here for just about a few weeks, but while that insane low number of subs so far seems bothering, I've quickly learn to appreciate it anyways.
First and for most, you gotta make your comic for yourself. Doing it for 'succes' is a wrong mindset. You gotta enjoy what you're doing and if only a handfull of people enjoy it too, so be it.

I agree with what the above users had to say. I continue working on my comic because I want to get my story out to the world. I don't do it for any other reason than to tell my story. That and working on my comic is damn fun!

I vowed to myself that if I can finish this long series, I can finish anything. It has nothing to do with the sub count but more on self-accomplishment and finding my worth in this mortal world. I also wanted to show people how I really feel cus I can't say it thru words and I don't have anyone to talk to about my feelings so comics is my salvation.

Because it's fun! Honestly, I don't think anyone should do this for validation. Be it by subs or otherwise.

Note: by validation, I don't mean positive or negative constructive criticism. You need that stuff if you want to develop your comic creation skills.

As I also print my comic and sell it at conventions (and have a pretty good fanbase there), that's one reason to keep me going even though I have fewer readers over here =)
Also, I have a need to tell my story and do stuff with my characters! No matter if it's just for me, a few friends or 5000 people, I still want to tell that story. And if I like it, it's awesome. If some other people enjoy it, that's of course even better :3

I agree with a lot of people, I don't have but at most 25 subs on one of my comics. I admit it was very discouraging. But I pride myself in the strangeness of my comics. Which even though I know that it's not many people cup of tea. It's a story I need to tell. I have fun writing and drawing and even though it's a tiny amount of people reading it just nice to know there a few people out there who like it.
I started to not get to involved in subs because seeing the number go up then down does make you feel bad. So I have to remember that regardless it is something I love and it's nice to get views so maybe someone else may enjoy.

OMG you cant get me started i whine about this all the time, but im over it now. I have 90 subs right now and it took me 6 months. And thats okay! It takes a while for people to see and like your comic. I dont draw very well so...some people actually SUBBED and never read it...so dont count on them to make you happy VIEWS SHOULD subbs have tons of comics to read and yours is just in there ocean. What pushed me on from having no subs is the hope that people will generally like my product with constant views instead. Then a few i love this comments with a couple keep goings really made mr think i made something PEOPLE LOVE and i should keep doing it because we both like it. plus i pre wrote 50 pages and they will be seen

I mildy care about subs. All I care about is putting out my work and enjoying my hobby. In fact I would be happy about even just one dedicated reader.

We started Goblins of Razard 5 years ago on smackjeeves. We have almost 1000 followers on Smackjeeves, but out of 6 issues posted there, we maybe have 30 total comments out of all the pages? Talk about a silent readership. It was rather demoralizing. We have only 180 subs here for the series and WOW. Tapastic has been so friendly! So chatty! So much enthusiasm and support. We aren't a popular comic here by any means, but just having the few readers who leave nice messages has meant the world to us. Kind of makes it worth it!

Moral of the story, we went through years of not getting feedback and not really feeling welcome in the community. Now we couldn't feel happier and really feel like folks like the work we've done.

So, keep chugging along. Keep loving your craft, it will pay off eventually! <3

I don't make this comic because of the subs. I've got less than 50 people here at Tapastic. I create this comic because I have a story to tell. Hard to explain, but almost a religious thing for me. People will get on board in due time.

Ah yes, feedback. I always wondered how those people with 1000subs and with so little comments from readers feel like. I'll take 1 comment over 100 silent subs anyday. At least with comments you will know if they are really reading or enjoying your work. If smackjeeves taught me anything in my early webcomics stint, it's that I don't have to mind the subs number and focus on the readers.

I juz like drawing so I keep on drawing though its a little backbreaking to see that my subs are low
So mostly I remind myself that i am making my comic as a hobby so that I won't have that negative mentality that my comic as a whole sucks but if its about my artwork I can always keep both a positive and negative view on it so I can keep on improving since I plan to at least continue drawing till I become as good as Kubo Tite the creator of Bleach

I just like doing it, if people won't read Et Spiritus Divino or Other World Unseen then there is nothing i can do about it. I just won't quit my day job is all XD and just keep trying to improve myself and the comic with the writing and art.
