I have a romantic space opera with two guys and a little kid 8D 10 subs, 20 episodes up already and updates every Tuesday! Yegor, a hot space-troll dad and their kid fall from the sky and crash-lands on planet Aeros. Karsen, a space-elf mechanic and an outcast, comes to the rescue. They are forced…
My comic's website's here
Biggest plus for me is that I can decide on the looks of the site with backgrounds, layouts and whatnot. And also have a section for fan art, character bioses etc
But yeah, for me, it's hard to drive traffic and engagement there, easier on Tapas and Webtoons and such.…
I'm going with the Queertober prompts, and will try to use my characters from my comic SPEJS for each inktober piece Day one was "Femme" and I decided to draw my most femme character, Morwen: [image]
Aw, thank you, I'm glad you enjoy the style
I've actually had this test in mind when making SPEJS, since I've made too many comics with men before: Have more than one female character - Three out of four main characters are female/not men, and many of the secondaries are female if it doesn't matter. ...That talk to each other at some poi…
I actually introduced all four main characters, although two of them briefly, in the first chapter of my current comic. In the second chapter, the briefly introduced character got the limelight and got properly introduced. With each chapter, I usually present a few characters that are secondary to t…
Cute redhead, you say? Well, I think Ragna, one of the protagonists of my space opera SPEJS, is pretty cute, but I like grumpy characters, and Ragna is all about being grumpy [image]
I mainly use twitter and instagram (and to some extent, Facebook) to promote my comic. I post art, links to my comics and other stuff on my twitter while I post art and cat photos on instagram, and sometimes the occasional "hey, my comic's updated, link here or in my profile" (since you can't click …
I have one for me (sadly a bit neglected right now), http://jennula.com and one for my web comic, http://spejscomic.com - I only have one comic though, so having two domain names isn't that much of a hassle to me It's more work to remember to update on all of the comic's mirror sites though
For Ragna, I'd say it's her scar across her face. I always tend to draw her with a frown, and it looks a bit weird when she has a relaxed face for some reason XD [image] As for Gav, I sometimes forget to draw his body & facial hair and I'll be like "who is this b…
ATM, I have about a 50 page buffert. But I work a bit oddish, I usually work around the clock (or the hours between my full-time job and sleep) January-April to get those pages done, and then test and plan the next chapter for the rest of the year. I hope I can get a headstart with the next pages a …
Sweet, thanks for the help!
I'm actually experimenting with a more mobile-friendly, vertical scrolling format for the next chapter of my comic. It's a bit of work, but hopefully the reading experience will be more delightful on smaller devices
I'd like to update my older pages to a vertical scrolling format too, but can I …
I'm 34 and always feel like [image]
Success can be measured in many ways depending on who you're asking. I can't quit my dayjob and work full time on my comic to pay my bills, and compared to many of my friends, I have very few followers. BUT the people who read my comic are so nice and great at commenting, which always makes me a…
Well, the characters in my comic are part of a bounty hunter team, so yes, they fight :3 [image] Ragna (to the left) has a little ray gun that goes pew pew! The guy to the right mostly drives cars, he's not much of a fighter XD [image] Morwen has what could be described as magic powers, I guess? Sh…
For me, good characters are the main reason I keep reading a comic, so if the characters capture me, I don't care if the pacing is a bit slow :3 My own comic's first chapter pretty much starts with 6 pages of talking heads inside a truck, and people stuck around somehow (I've learned to make those …
Anyone going to Thought Bubble (Leeds)? We're a few Swedish tapsters who're going to share a table and hang out there =) I'm also going to Confuzzled (Birmingham), and while it's not a comic convention, maybe some Tapas people will be there too..?
Last year, I think my comics sold the best regardless if it was an indie comic con or a more pop culture/RPG/board game centric con. Which I have mixed feelings about, but mostly positive ;D I mean, I want to sell my other stuff too, but I'm the happiest if they read my comic, of course =) When I …
Aw, thanks! <3 I really like the looks of your comic too, the colors look so pleasant and dreamy and seems to fit the mood very well!
I post one page every Tuesday at 10AM (CET). I'm working with my comics in a weird way where I spend 3-4 months to draw 40-50-something pages. So right now I have a buffert of maybe 10 pages, but in May when I'm done with the next chapter, I'll have a buffert of 54 pages 8D
With SPEJS, it has been a bit of a journey =) Fist chapter was first made in black and white, and I slapped on colours for the web. I had no idea what I was doing and tried to later redeem myself for the print run: [image] Second chapter (currently running), I tried to have a theme color (purple). I…
Wordpress and Comic Easel. Any day. I love the freedom to costumize your page to look exactly like you want it <3 I've set up some tumblr comic pages for friends and while I understand the fanbase can get bigger there, I think tumblr is very clunky to work with if you want to customize your page (…
I can fully agree to what @somvi said! It too me over 4 months to get my first comic accepted there, and I guess it's more for publishing credit than sales. I think I've earned more on ad revenue and tipping over here than I've done on book sales over there (and I've had my comic on ComiXology for m…
It's a cute gesture, and I love getting those on my wall <3 Sometimes I get them quite a while after I subscribed, but if the creators get a ton of new subs I totally understand it'll take a while to post to everyone (that happens to me too, I don't have THAT many subs, but work and life usually cau…
I rebooted a comic once when it was done and I have no idea why and it was so stupid, and yeah...I never finished it, but I don't think people mind because the comic I work with right now is much more fun and me, to be honest ^^ It took me a few years of doing concept art, writing long scripts etc…
SPEJS is a space opera which I'd dare to call a humorous sci-fi adventure :3 It's very character driven, but I want some fun action in every chapter =) [image]
I usually pass on review offers mainly because the first chapter was drawn early 2015 and the other one early 2016. I'm currently working on the third chapter and it feels like I've upped my game a lot since the last two with pacing, panel placements etc that it feels a bit irrelevent to get critiqu…
