What kind of topics would you like to see more often on this forum?

You know I wouldn't mind self promo threads if it was more than 'drop a link central'. Like the ones with discussions and gimmicks don't bother me as much as long as there is more to them. I've done self promo for some character designs and I didn't just drop pictures and links, I encouraged other people to talk about things related to what I showing. I also got into why I was promoting what I was promoting.

So, what I'm trying to say is, I'm okay with certain types of self promotion, otherwise I would be a hypocrite. And I'm not trying to get cancelled when this forum turns into twitter.

topics focused on introducing your world and characters to other members (maybe even self promo), something like "what is your main's favorite food?". Also topics combining novels and comics, its very frustrating that people only allow novels for certain posts even if the topic can be applied to comics as well.

I decided to procrastinate and started the world-building thread. It's not done, but so long already. Oh, I'd love to participate in the DTIYS thread. It may take a while because I take a while to draw and I think I have enough time to do pencil drawings. Digitizing things take a long long time.

Yeah, I'm thinking of something to make people interested enough to keep coming back. Except promotion threads...

Yes, I think so too. Tho writing specific posts (or comic specific posts) should stay when justified, imo. Like if you're talking about technical aspects of writing, it can't exactly be comic friendly lol But yes I agree

Yeah I see what you mean. Not trying to say we should ban self promo all together. The thing is, when you see someone spam ten threads with senseless self-promo in 2 minutes then run, well... Feelsbadman. Because not only does this person dump stuff without participating, they also bury the cool threads and make it look like this server is just about self-promo. It shouldn't be just about self-promo. Do you see what I mean?

So, how does one create a thread for self-promo that is more engaging? I've thought of "critique the poster's work before you" kind of stuff for critiques, but not sure.

oh boy, I already posted the thread and I'm still adding final changes. It's in the art/writing category. The post is quite long as it gave ideas for things to describe and some examples. I think that may look too clustered, but I left it like that anyway. If you'd like to proofread or add something, I'd be happy to change the post.

I thought the DTIYS would be something tough to draw like a human character, but I can totally do a snail. I'll try to finish it by the end of this week.

I would be fine with promotion threads if they actually help new creators gain exposure. It's mostly dropping novels and not taking looks at others' works. I would mute them too.

First thought: you need to add something about the outcome of all of this. Will it be a comic? Writing? Or is it going to be created? Etc. People may not want to jump in if they don't know what to expect. And if you don't know, you could just say something along the lines of "we're still looking for ideas on how to render the final product, please send your ideas", etc.
The templates are good, detailed but not overwhelming so Nothing to say regarding that!

And that's just some silly sketch, I wasn't going to use my comic's characters. I feel it would have been too much like requesting free fanart, not good.

And how far along their series they are. Too often, people make the chapters in their comics ridiculously long, it becomes hard to follow sometimes. I want to know if their almost done with the series as a whole or not.

To my second point, I'd like to know of any cancelled plot lines that they envisioned but never came through for different reasons.

I was thinking about a final product, but the major issue is time. I was thinking of getting interested artists/authors to submit their information to be complied into one huge book. I think something like World of Tapas. Then, I thought of short one-shot collaborations with each poster if they're interested. Again, the main concern is time. I'm someone who loves doing things, but will feel very stressed and guilty if I cannot deliver properly.
I like going all out with these activities. It gives more opportunities for creativity.

Ah, I get you and it's cool. But hey, it's still something everyone can try redrawing. I'm not sure if others would consider redraws as fanart, but it's alright if you think that way. My only goal when doing DTIYS is seeing whether I can interpret the character with my style.

Something like that, though I was also thinking of more specific stuff like "what does your OC think about love" or "what holidays exist in your comic/novel's world?", similar to what @indagold said.

@vowebnovel1101 hmm last time you did such a thing, how did it end? What was the outcome? I believe you could start the collabs as soon as you get 2+ participants. They can collab multiple times if they want their realm connected to a bunch of different ones, or if they want a multi connection with different realms at the same time. Do you see what I mean?

The outcome was mostly other participants collaborating with each other for special chapters in their books. We were all quite busy so I think a few collabs have been dropped, but we did reference each other's worlds and kingdoms. That was the least we could do to connect our worlds and kingdoms.

Intentions are always hidden behind the screen, I agree. Everyone has different thoughts too I guess. That's why I like lurking in the forums.
