I personally like dark humor and puns, but that's not for everyone. Humor is very subjective. There are all types of ways to write humor,heres a list of different genres you can try. Remember to be creative! There's also this blog entry that gives you some tips.
Humor is questionable, not all will laugh at verbal jokes. The only suggestion I will give is study a technique that harmonizes with the visual medium that you're currently on, Visual Comedy
