What nostalgic movie do you remember going to the theater to watch when you were a kid?

I have always been a HUGE Asterix fan. Even at the ripe old age of 51 I read and re-read the comics often, and I have them all (even the new ones)..

I used Asterix & Obelix for my halloween special last year. That is me dressed as Asterix, my friend Dale as Obelix, circa 1990 or so.

The first pokemon movie which I watched with my best friend in cinemas, along with my mom. I loved it so much and even wrote in my diary how fun it was. Many, many years later, while reminiscing with my mom, she told me it was the most boring movie she ever seen

the Sackville Drive In Theatre

I remember going to the Sunday flea markets there. The faint whiff of horse shit from the Downsview drifting up in the morning, the much tastier smell of the KFC wafting by in the afternoon.

I grew up close enough to the horse track that I could hear the trumpets and thundering hooves on summer evenings when they were racing. I would hang around the barns as a kid, looking at the horses, chasing the barn cats, and avoiding all the used syringes. Sackville was a lot different back then.

Those Sunday markets were the best. Walk around the outside circumference looking at all the tables, then walk around the inner circumference and looking at those ones. If there was enough time left over, head over to the Town Centre and check that market out.

I didnt go to the movies very often as a kid and I often missed out on the big movies that people saw
But and I'm sorry about being that person but I saw Shrek in theatres during a very pivotal time in my childhood and I still actually genuinely love that movie all memes aside

And now that im and adult you bet i watch movies in theatres all the time

"Aladdin" just had a profound effect on me as a kid. It might have been the only movie I saw in theaters twice as a kid. A big heart, Vibrant animations, whimsical music, and Robin Williams' performance was just... wow. I wanted to be him when I grew up (actually, I wanted to be EVERYONE involved with that movie- animators, actors, musicians, singers- the talent pool was top notch).

I also love seeing all the X-Men and LOTR references on this thread. I remember seeing X-Men with my sister and having to go to the bathroom RIGHT off the bat, but holding it ALL the way until the end because of that opening Magneto scene. I was just blown away by how earnest that film was that I risked a fate similar to Tycho Brahe. I thought bladder control was my mutant power after that (and I missed school for Two Towers too).

Getting lost in movies is a real joy. Even if a movie isn't doing much for me, when a moment lands, god, it's the best. Just last year, I found a tear rolling down my cheek at the sight of Super Sonic in Sonic 2 (spoilers). Little me is very much alive at the theaters.

Aladdin was my childhood I always watched it at my grandparents cabin on VHS. I especially love the music it’s so nostalgic for me.

I was a massive Jackie Chan fan as a kid. I may or may not have broken some bones doing "stunts" on the playground.

Quite a few, one of my most favorite memories was going to see Tim Burton's Corpse Bride in theaters. It's still my most favorite Tim Burton films of all time.

The first pirates of the caribian. I watched it in an outside theater while a thunderstorm was approaching and, in that age, I was deadly scared of getting struck by lightning. But I enjoyed that movie so much I ignored that fear. It also enhanced the intensity of the movie aswell.

At the end it wasn't even a thunderstorm but some smal lightnigs in the clouds. I won't ever forget that experience though

The earliest I can remember is probably Aladdin in 1992. But I have nostalgia for lots of movies! The first Tom & Jerry and Pokemon movies to name a couple. Still got my promo cards!

I didnt really start going to the movies a lot until I got a PT gig at a movie theater; the theater I worked at was more of an "artsy type" that showed a lot of indie flicks...but since they were in the fold of a company, I'd have the manager call up another theater and get passes to see movies that I wanted to see.

After leaving that job I didnt go to movies until after I had my kid; I'd take them to see stuff like Shrek and Powerpuff Girls(the one cartoon that we'd watch together) and then we'd see the Spider-Man movies and eventually started seeing the Marvel stuffs...now kiddo is older and off on their own, I go to the movies myself and enjoy the stuffs I want to see. I was going A LOT between 2016 and 2020, but Covid slowed things down; I still go see the big Marvel stuff that I want to see, but I'll pick and choose with everything else.

Yeeaaah I didn't go to the theatre much at all as a kid XD Most of the media I'm nostalgic for are books, games or TV series

If we're talking about nostalgic movies in general ... I guess Finding Nemo, which we probably rented from the library or smth? And some Christmas movie they put on TV that time of year, probably some version of A Christmas Carol ... Oh, actually, I know; we watched Mean Girls in health class in middle school - defs feeling some nostalgia there

Dark Crystal is a major one. I remember my sister being disgusted by the skeksis while I thought it was the most awesome thing ever being aged 7 at the time.
Who framed Roger rabbit..went to see that god knows how many times.

'Jurassic Park' premiere day with family. I only remembered It's so crowded with people outside the theater that day-- several hundreds. The huge car-park outside was full. The front billboard design of the JP logo was rather vivid & eyecatching. The movie was extremely hyped & a huge hit even in southeast Asia.
