There's a bunch of inspirations and influences behind my comic. On an obvious, surface level, I can't NOT give a nod to the big two fantasy titans that influenced the vibe: Tolkein, and Dungeons and Dragons. I mean, it's elves and magic and stuff. That's kinda a gimme. Once you get down to specifics, though, there are more things.
Adi/Sae, the female MC, came about from an old Renaissance faire costume of mine where I felt like I had an 'elven assassin' vibe. (Which of COURSE I can't find a photo of... sigh)
Koreal, the male MC, is actually one of my husband's old, OLD DnD characters, but cleaned up, expanded, and given a whole new life long after his game is over.
Adi/Sae's childhood home, the forest city of Silberyn, is heavily inspired by the old-growth evergreen forests of the Pacific Northwest, where I live, and the cabins the Silberyni elves live in is a little bit native American longhouse, a little bit Viking, and a little bit Japanese (I was trying to draw inspiration from cultures that had similar wet/cold climates).
Meanwhile, Mir'Aran, the much larger city that Koreal is from, is a city partially built atop a mesa rising from a broad valley. I don't have any art done of it (yet), but it's at least partially inspired by Orvieto, Italy, where I spent a semester back in 2004.
....I like sweeping, majestic landscapes, I can't help it.
