What’s your favorite genre to read and to create?

Horror, Mystery and Fantasy. Been reading that stuff since grade 5.
I was never into Goosebumps. I loved this series though. 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark' a kids book but gave adults nightmares. I also like the Vampire Files series collection from the 90s. And used to watch 1960s/70s reruns on TV with my grandpa about scary stuff. Those old technicolor Thriller, Suspense, etc shows.

We have a similar relationship to the Romance genre. It's not my go-to in books I read, but it's what I usually end up writing.

My favorite genre to read is Mystery - anything that keeps me on my toes and challenges me to think. It doesn't have to be Crime or Detective-themed though. Any other genre incorporated with Mystery works for me, including Romance.

I like writing novels that I can enjoy reading after a year or so - when I've completely forgotten what the novel is about - so when I write Romance stories, it's always coupled with Mystery. I want to make sure I impress my future self so I do my best to keep it unpredictable to an appropriate extent.

I'm not limited to writing Romance though. I've written works for other genres like Horror, Fantasy, Drama, Tragedy and Comedy. I also mix those genres up depending on my writing mood.

I don't really choose things to read by genre... and that can make it tricky to find works that I like.

Hm, I get it's hard to search for (technical/tightness) quality and vibes, but I've had little trouble searching for themes or tropes; that's how I find a lot of the stuff I read/watch, and I find I drop very few stories (not just because of sunk-cost fallacy either; I don't regret picking it up after I'm done) Then again, I haven't found many instances of the stuff I look for, so maybe I'm not actually that successful and people just aren't tagging/describing the stories I don't find, rather than there really just not being many such stories like I assumed XD

I also get into a lot of stuff by watching reviews; e.g. the 'best anime of the season' videos a few youtubers have a habit of doing, which are good sources of that 'quality and vibes' info that predict my enjoyment of a story. That's why I suspect webcomics as a genre just don't seem to have much visibility outside of webcomic communities; because no-one ever reviews webcomics :'D

Fave genres to read Horror, Action, Combat, BL, Scifi, Dark Fantasy, Superhero, Shonen, stuff with a video-gamey feel (more a gamer than reader honestly so anything that feels like a fighting game, rpg or action-horror would quickly grab my attention)

Fave Genre to create is the same as the ones above. Current comic series is an Action-Horror x Shonen/ superhero but also contains bits from the Fave Genres. Usually anything I create gets mixed in with horror. Anther project in the works is a BL/Horror.

I am open to almost all kinds of genres, I love Bl, and also horror, comedy, drama, romance, action, mystery or science fiction stories without the need for a relationship between two boys.

The only thing I couldn't read would be a novel or comic with a lot of rampant violence, intestines, and bulging eyes in all directions. In everything else I have no problem.

My favorite genre to create besides a romance story would be a horror-suspense story, I'm very excited to work on a comic I have in mind with that thematic.

I tend to like comedic slice of life stories that are more character driven then plot driven. I do also like some modern fantasy. I like stories themed around found family, friendship, and mental health. I also like stories that are whimsical or just bizarre.

The stuff I write tends to be more slice of life and “sitcom”-like. I do like to add some fantasy elements. I also tend to have characters from non-traditional families, mostly because I just find it more interesting.

Well kind of like you! I love reading mystery thrillers and fantasy based write-ups... But most of the times I tend to write about hopeless romantic dramas!
I really love reading horror.... And to my dismay most of the so called horror genres end up being psycho thrillers thus mixing the two...
Basically I enjoy a wide range of genres but the romance surely doesn't hold my interest for long! ┐⁠(⁠‘⁠～⁠`⁠;⁠)⁠┌
