We all have a storytelling style. Some like to punch the reader in the face with exploding action on the very first issue. Others want to start with a mysterious character or event, leaving the reader in the dark for a while before starting revealing stuff. Others dump the reader with exposition on the very first issue in order to give the lay of the land and the rules of the campaign setting. Others want to focus on the protagonist's psyche.
Of all your traits as a storyteller, which one do you think that could be interpreted as a flaw, rather than a trait?
For me, it's my obsession with starting slow and picking up the pace way later. I want to build-up the story and the characters before there is a major confrontation. Unfortunately, that may make the series seem really boring at first, giving a first impression of something utterly tame and boring.
I literally realized it when I started my series and had the basic description of the story come alive after five whole issues.
What about you guys and gals?
