Well I don't mean to brag, but let's just say I know my way around a kitchen. Specifically, the one at my last apartment. The current one kind of confuses me, so I don't go in it unless it's an emergency. To be honest, I have no idea what the hell is going on in there.
Anyway, the key is to start with quality ingredients, then stop, before something horrible happens, and find someone who knows how to cook them.
Here's my second most popular dish. I'd give you guys the recipe, but it's a secret.
@eethy
that bowl really needs to be cleaned e.e'
@sarahrebecca58
Omg, I love Thai curries! My favourite is green curry but yellow and red are good too as long as they have coconut milk in 'em. I've been eating instant curry, though. Never made one with the green curry paste I had, which I should have. I have some coconut milk that needs to be used so, can you share how you make your curries?
@Savannah
Oh wow. That sounds like a super healthy lifestyle-- something I'm not used to at all XD;; Wait. Have you guys eaten buffalo? lol
@ratique
Never heard of turkey meatball pitas before. What are they like?
@allenthomas
That's pretty much what I've been eating a lot lately. The simplest and cheapest of ingredients. XD
@ArtistHan
I just... Wow! Some of these look very similar to the Chinese food I grew up eating-- especially that pork dish (minus the kimchi of course, but that looks like a good combination) 8D. Ey, nothing wrong with ginger there XD Oh, God. I haven't eaten lunch yet and I'm super hungry now.
@WintreKitty
Oh my God, I want hash browns. The closest I can get here is McD's hb but there isn't even a McD's in the town I live in DX Also, I want me some badass spaghetti. What vegies did you put in? Bell peppers? XD
@Cielle
Wow! Okonomiyake always seems pretty complicated to make to me. I should try it one day Eh? Where do you get your squid ink from? I've never seen them in stores in the places I've been to
@Zanreo
Yeah, cooking always takes time T_T. Otherwise I'd be cooking up a storm more often.
It's none too hard, just takes a while. I don't make it as often as my dad though he's much less lazy than me when it comes to cooking. Just boil the soup ingredients for about an hour, and separately soak the noodles in water for about a half hour (remove from water) then serve the broth and add the noddles, meat, fresh seasoning leafy green stuff, green onions, bean sprouts, and such in your bowl.
@zelkats Your photos make me so hungry. I really want to try my hand at making those cola wings, it looks ace!
@kurapikasuki Pho is so amazing!! I've never tried making it but now I might have to give it a try! (also your username is awesome)
I got a slow cooker for my birthday so I've been making a lot of stews and pulled meats recently. Salad makes everything guilt-free right? ( ´∀`)
I also love baking!
I don't cook much, but when I do, it's potatoes. Well, I can cook other stuff as well - I haven't managed to give anyone food-poisoning yet! - but I have, like, a black belt in potatoes.
Mashed potatoes, fried potatoes, potato gratin, oven-baked potatoes, gnocchi, that old Swedish classic kroppkakor - or potato dumplings with fried pork inside:
... etc., etc. Potatoes are delicious.
But honestly, I'm more into baking. Cookies and pies and crumbles and chocolate cake and whatnot. I've been seriously been considering doing recipe-comics about it, but I haven't found the time for it yet.
@zelkats okonomiyaki isn't too hard, as long as you have the right ingredients! And patience. It can be a bit messy, though. But it's so delicious. Worth the mess! As for squid ink, if you live close to the ocean I think you can get it at most grocery stores (?). Sadly, I don't live close to the ocean anymore, so I just buy my pasta pre-inked. It's not as good as fresh, but I'll take what I can get ^.^
@sarahrebecca58
I actually meant sharing your recipe with me so that I can try cooking it but I'd love to see pictures of it too! lol xD
@Zanreo
That.. sounds so sinfully delish. I'll try it one day! 8DDD
@kurapikasuki
Ooh, I see! Perhaps I'll try making when I visit my parents back at Malaysia soon.
@Himmi
I can give you the cola chicken recipe if you want Oh geez, why does your cooking look like they came out of a restaurant? D: <3 What's that dessert called?
@AnnaLandin
I grew up in a culture where taters are hardly used and when they are, they usually turn out boring. I kinda want to experience something more than french fries and boiled potatoes. I love mashed potatoes and gnocchi so far! Kroppkakor sounds and looks delicious OoO
I have major respect for people who can bake. I think recipe comics are a good idea. I don't see a lot of those
@ratique
Blue apron? What's that? Mmm that looks great XD What's in the white sauce?
@Cielle
Mmm. I'll try okonomiyaki one weekend. Might as well while I'm still here XD. A simple frying pan should do, right? I have a funny feeling that I might find some instant squid ink sauce for pasta if I looked hard enough XD;;
FOOD TOPIC ! I love food.
I like cooking different dishes, and mostly, dishes of the laziness, like ramen or udon with chicken. Risotto with chicken too. And pasta with tomato sauce + chorizo.
And making some chirashi, and fried noodles.
And scallops with creams and pasta or french fries.
I like making some curry too.2
Today I'll try some noodles with teriyaki sauce and meat.
Great topic! And an important one. since it's the engine of all us comic-creators. I'm a diabetic, so the kind of food i eat is important to me. I like to keep it simple. No high dosed sugar bombs for me. Bread in all kind of ways work the best for me. Like we say in the Netherlands: Smakelijk eten!
It's just yoghurt, cucumber and salt and pepper - pretty simple dish overall.
Blue Apron is a service where you sign up and they send a box to you each week full with ingredients for 3 different meals for two people. Plus recipe.
It helps me, because I am bad at food shopping. I often end up buying things I don't eat, then it goes bad and I throw it away. In Blue Apron everything is sent to me in the perfect amount for the dishes, So I don't have to worry about unused meat or vegetables.
You should google it, zelkats! I can really recommend it.
