What thing was your series inspired from that you're embarrassed to admit

All of us were inspired to create art, even if those things aren't that well regarded for being good. This thread is for anyone who's comic or novel was inspired by a piece of media that you wouldn't classify as being good of high quality. Because it's better to admit that your series is inspired by a mediocre story than to deny it what so ever.

My series, Crescent Blue, was initially inspired by........sigh Secret Life Of Pets from 2016. I'll be one to admit that the movie is not that good and it's not what you'd call cinimatic masterpiece or classic but 13 year old me was charmed by the movie (for some reason). Thus CB (or rather it's earliest concepts of it) was born. It's really hard to tell the SLOP influence on my series, in fact it's really distanced itself from that movie to become it's own thing. But that wasn't the only thing that made CB what it is that I'm embarrassed to admit, but I'm pretty sure you can guys what that is by reading the series ^^'

My main ones were Vampire Knight and Elfen Lied when I was 15...and my story at the time was a lot like them.

As I got older and matured I redid everything and took inspiration from Teen Titans (mainly the 2003 cartoon) Ghost Rider, Soul Eater, Baccano!, and Berserk.

It started with having adventures with my favorite characters, then eventually shipping, then I hit my personal character development phase where I didn‘t really know what to do with the project, but still put in many ideas and now I just roll with it and have fun xD

Ok, I'll be honest, I take some inspiration from Ninjago. I know it's just a long Lego advert, but I watched it lots as a kid, and it did help inspire some aspects of my story.

I'll admit, my series was inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog and Spyro the Dragon.
Even Regro's design was inspired by Rouge the Bat. Mostly the wings part. He was already going to be a bat, and Rouge just helped simplify it. I wasn't like "oh i like that design so I'll use that." It was more like "oh this seems like a much easier way to draw the character" because Regs was originally going to have wings on his arms, but I personally found that a pain in the butt to draw. Rouge basically, showed me a simplier solution. Plus Regs has that feature that Rouge doesn't where he can retract his wings into his body when he's not using them.

while reason isnt embarrassing , i dont want to sound like im putting any writer down, but i didn't like how in ya fantasy mc always has ...weird partner? like mc is around 17-20 and lover is 1000+ , also they tend to be pretty toxic, while my novel isnt all sunshine and rainbows i dont think any shio ( that will be canon ) is toxic

The two main characters of my work are based off secondary characters of my previous work of which one was kidnapped by the other and has stockholm syndrome.

Hey Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog is good fun! Sure SaTAM gets all the glory, but there's something simply entertaining about Sonic dunking on Robotnik and his two dumbass bots

Haha I found out about it because a family friend gave me a home VHS tape full of stuff ripped from TV that had a few episodes on it. I unfortunately never got to see it while it was on the air.
But I watched those few episodes over and over again.

Mig looked up a list of occupations on the internet (might have been jobs from the ancient world or something like that) and picked one then made up a story around it . It's not that embarrassing as much as it is kind of random and arbitrary. I don't think either of us expected to spend over a year on this though, to be fair.

Mine is probably one of the worst ones of this thread haha: my novel Fair, No Fair is based on a mlm RP that I did a while ago. The main plot, including some events that happen were taken directly from it. Worst part is that that RP was not exactly SFW...

Mine's based on an old fighting game by SEGA called Last Bronx. If you see gameplay of it, it's kinda obvious.

Except for the modern amenities. Genii’s gonna regret skipping school when he has to dig his own poop hole in the woods.
