What to post on Patreon when you don't have any supporters?

This may be an particullary silly question, but it's eating my mind.

So, I have a patreon account and I want to have patrons. The thing is, for probably a long time I won't have anyone and I'm wondering what to post there.

I pretend that I have people who will see an patron exclusive post and just publish it? I should put the comic sketches, files and stuff that I promissed?

I would post maybe 2 Patreon exclusive things, but then hold off on the rest until Patrons start pledging.

I don't think so.
It's best to have a backlog of content you can post once you get Patrons instead of posting it all and then scrambling to get things together when you do have people staying monthly.
Plus it's extra work to keep up posts when no one is around to appreciate them yet.
If there's at least one exclusive post for each tier your plan to have waiting for a new Patron, I'd say you're good.

I decided to start at least my creator diary. Is open for everyone, and maybe is a nice way to keep the page alive.

I've see Patreons where the "exclusive" stuff is just NSFW stuff or special comics that are Specials to published releases in physical books and what not. I've also seen where the first tier, and only one, is $2 so it really is a tip.

I think it's a good idea to get used to the UI and system and use it. I know I won't pledge to someone's page what looks like they have nothing there. It looks forgotten and abandoned.

Exactly my thoughts! I usually drop all my extra art on my instagram, but looks like maybe I should hold some of then to my future patrons.

Even if they're on the free tier, make it look alive. Some people want to see a lot before they pledge so there's activity proof; I check dates to activity.

Well, I just release pages there a week or few days early for patreons. I got two pledgers, but honestly I don't know if they care. I explicitly stated on Patreon that I won't do any exclusive-exclusive content, just early access at most. Paywalling content is a shit of a tactic, unfair for fans who can't afford to pay, and it should just die. Let your art be free.
