What type of scenes are your favorite?

I live for stories where the main character has been hiding a big secret from everyone else, and then my favourite scene is when the secret is revealed (even if it's a dream sequence) but it has to be done right, it can't be underplayed.

Ooh which to pick... it's a toss up between the 'lull in the action' scene, where characters are in the middle of intense action and the story takes some moments to build on their personalities and/or relationships or the 'trial by fire' scene where a character who has either been in denial or putting up a false front gets pushed to reveal their true nature or loyalties. But most scenes which develop or reveal aspects of a character realistically will get a thumbs up from me

I like fighting scenes because of the dynamic poses you can see out of it, and I like the romantic/sad scenes because it can effect your emotions so much.

i really like buildup scenes, both reading and creating them. this sequence was one of the most fun ones to draw

So many great types of scenes! I love many of the mentioned ones.

It's kind of a cop out, because I feel everyone is bound to like these, but I love the big emotional payoffs. Those are the best, when the things people have been hiding from each other (or themselves) come to the surface and everything has to change. That includes when these big payoffs lead to fights, I love me some shonen manga rivalry.

I also like bombastic, weird, surreal, impossibly huge cosmic stakes and concepts when they are balanced by quieter, character driven moments to anchor it all. Those are always fun as well.

For me it's gotta be scenes where a character is in a strange new environment and slowly learning about it with the audience.

Like that's basically my minicomic (and one of my upcoming minicomics) in a nutshell...

And there are like, so many different ways to do it depending on the setting and the character and the mood of the story. I usually just have one character alone in some weird trippy place, and then they meet someone who sorta knows what's going on but just raises more questions.

Alice in wonderland is like, one of my favorite books naturally because it's literally just this.

I love writing scenes that delve DEEPER(whether it's into characters, magic systems, lore, relationships... anything goes). I also love to read those.

I have recently found it pleasant to write slow, meticulous buildups that(oftentimes) pay off with a major burst of action, emotion and catharsis... or despair. Also, I LOVE magic systems, devising them and then conveying them through writing. My favourite writer(Brandon Sanderson) has a thing for tying magic systems with ore and even story plot, making the payoff for a character's exploration of magic really intense. I guess I have the same habit.

I also like writing about challenges that require the MC to trust his/her friends to the utmost... and sometimes they fail the MC. Other times they won't. I just have this thing for tight-knit, blood brother type of stuff(without the actual blood pact).

building scenes are the top pick for me. I love learning about characters, places, and worlds. especially if they give more emotion
and depth to the story.

As a writer? I really enjoy writing bonding scenes. Not even romantic kinda stuff, but platonic things - like father/daughter cute moments, best friends bonding as they hang out, or when two opposing characters come to respect one another.

As for other scenes?

Romantic: Every time I write them I feel like they're sooooo sappy and it makes me frustrated as hell. Sex? Sure. Cute moments? Got it. Legit romance? FUUUUUUU

Action: I hate writing action scenes, but I always love the result. Writing action for me is like pulling teeth, but when it's done my test readers 9/10 will say it's the strongest part of the story. This is a blessing/curse as I write a heavily action based comic

Sad: I can write these pretty well, but I don't like doing it. I have to go to really dark places to find a genuine saddness to write from and it can take a toll.

The part where you feel the chemistry between the characters in a movie.
The kissing, the teasing the part where you see how the butterflies appear lol.

I love writing extremely fluffy scenes where two characters are acting ridiculously cute together, like on a date or just watching a movie together.

On the other side of the spectrum, I'm a sucker for writing those emotional breakdowns, especially the lead up to them and then the entire scene of a character finally breaking under the pressure/circumstances.

Honestly, I love action scenes. Not just the usual "hardcore, bone-crunching mania" but the more goofy and wild scenes too. I love the ones where the artists really allow the characters to go off-model and stretch, squeeze, grunt, and express themselves in a somewhat over-abundant manner. A good example of what I'm talking about is Ren's "I'm So Angry" scene from the Ren and Stimpy Show.
