What Was Your Favorite Saturday Morning Cartoon?

I used to get up on Saturday mornings, have a bowl of cereal, and plop down in front of the TV to watch Saturday morning cartoons? Which ones were your favorites? Mine were Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, and Mew Mew Power. On the mornings our family sat down and ate breakfast together, we would watch Looney Tunes, Underdog, or Spongebob!

I'd love to hear about the cartoons you watched as a kid and if they influenced you to write or draw stories!

I'm not sure if they broadcasted these in the morning (I forgot ), but I watched stuff like Adventure Time and Pokémon if I got to the television on time haha

4kids all the way! I didn't watch One Piece but I did love Winx Club and SonicX. My fav cartoon that fits the Saturday morning "feel" is this show that came in 2015 called Blazing Team. It was made to sell toys, has sub standard animation and a very straightforward, by-the-numbers plot. . . And I love it with all my heart!

When I was a little kid...they still played OG Looney Tunes on Saturday Mornings. So...that. (When I had access to Tv at my grandparents house. At home I didn't have TV, because of my parents xD)

Then later it was stuff like Eek! The Cat, Animaniacs, The Tick...that era of cartoons.

I grew up watching Teletoon and YTV.

I don't remember any of the shows I watched and none of them have influence in my stuff.

My style is definitely influenced by the cartoons of my youth, (mostly LT) Especially in how I portray movement and poses. My stuff isn't as exaggerated as those cartoons, but it still uses similar techniques.
I wouldn't be who I am as an artist without them. When I finally was able to get a hold of VHS tapes,(when my parents graciously decided it would be okay for me to have tv in the house) I'd watch them for hours on end. But back then, being a comic artist was the furthest thing from my mind. It's just now, two decades later, that I understand the impact those hours of passive studying had on me as an artist.
I'm grateful for those cartoon creators like Bob Clampett, Tex Avery, Friz Freleng, and Chuck Jones.

I grew up with Cartoon Network and Jetix (the european??even if it was on south america? equivalent of Fox Kids), so saturday morning cartoon was my lifeblood as well as a lot of kids' anime when I had the time. My favorite for sure was Xiaolin Showdown, at least up until the final season since I didn't watch a whole lot of that. I loved the artifacts, the creative battles in every episode, and everyone's fun character development that went all over the place (especially Raimundo, the best Brazilian character rep I can think of from that time).

It's really obvious how much I injected on that show into my creations. Everyone having themed magic, battles through creative use of weird techniques rather than "my power is better", and adventuring to strange locations in a world that just dropped all pretense of realism and went straight for modern magic after a while.

They had those on 4kidsTV, a Saturday morning cartoon program when I was growing up. Now I wonder how different channels were in certain places.

YTV aired the stuff 4KIDS would. (As well as stuff on Cartoon Network's Toonami and adult swim's anime)

YTV, huh? Never heard of it. This is so wild to learn about. I think the funniest bit is that 4kidsTV aired One Piece and it had a killer opening that made me sad to find out it wasn't the anime's original opening. They also censored like crazy! I remember Bandit Keith in Yu-gi-oh who didn't have a gun when he threatening... Pegasus if I recall..? The American sanitization of Japanese culture was running high then too.

One Piece had the worst censorship on 4Kids.

(But I found a part where they forgot to censor the blood)

ooooh yeah. I was watching the anime on crunchy and scratching my head a lot. There comes a point when you really shouldn't bother buying show rights imo

adult swim censors some anime. (They censored Fire Force, I know that)

Censorship I can get over, you can usually buy the uncensored version once it's all out (except Tokyo Ghoul cries). It bugs me when there are two different stories going on with the same source material. Watching something like Dragon Ball in English with English subtitles is a perfect example. It's wild to see and frustrating to get around.

I actually have the entire run of One Piece from 4KIDS downloaded onto my computer for archival reasons.

I haven't but it's been heavily recommended to me. It's my too long list atm. Though I'm mega bummed at the CGI reboot. It looked so gross

Don't watch the CGI one. Watch the one from the 90s and watch it dubbed.

(The dub is better than the japanese audio, I'm not even kidding there too)
