What was your inspiration before you make your comic?

It could be inspiration from Tapastic creators or manga/comic authors you admire, it could be anything!
My inspiration was Fujiko F. Fujio (You know him?), he created that Japanese manga Doraemon. My comic series is here.

For Likho, It was a friend who gave me the idea to do a gore webcomic. As I already do
horror/gore art anyway...
The style mostly was influenced by Saccstry and just random stuff I liked.

Oh man, my inspiration? That one has definitely gotta be BLAME! by Tsutomu Nihei. Art wise that is, I just love the way he draws cyberpunk (people on the other hand, not so much ahahha) Another inspiration I have is Yasuhiro Nightow, I really like the way he draws action scenes. When it comes to people, I really like looking at Katsuhiro Otomo and Kenichi Yoshida. I want to buy all their artbooks aaaahh hh hh hh h

Grassblades is a little bit of everything I like thrown into a blender. The two most obvious inspirations are Blade of the Immortal and Lone Wolf and Cub, but there are generous helpings of Usagi Yojimbo, Akira Kurosawa (Masahiro is so Toshiro Mifune it hurts), a pinch of Zaraki and Yachiru from Bleach (who are themselves quite obviously a reference to Lone Wolf and Cub), a bit of Hellboy* for good measure, some of the Journey to the West-motif that is so common in Asian pop-culture, and a generous sprinkle of 365 Samurai and a Few Bowls of Rice by J P Kalonji.

... and, like, half a hundred other things. >.<

*) Yes, Hellboy. I know the rest of that list is heavily Asian, but Grassblades has definite streaks of Hellboy in it - it just hasn't been obvious yet in the bits that have been posted. It's partly an atmospheric thing, and partly a structural thing. Grassblades, like Hellboy, will tell a rather epic over-arching story (but no, Masahiro won't be revealed to be the Right Hand of the Apocalypse, I promise! XD), with episodic interludes that don't immediately drive the big story forward, but does explore characters.

Gosh, a bunch of stuff inspired me, so I'll break it down.

For the story of Demon House: I'd been seeing a lot of demon related stuff around the internet and wanted to join the party basically.
For Heavy Horns: Hm, I developed a story based around these two characters I created, and their designs were generally inspired by the artworks of some artists whose work I admire.
Artists that inspire me: On the internet (all have tumblrs): Kevin Wada, Skoptsy, Toiek, Ness Kain. In print/traditional: James Jean, Winslow Homer
Artists that have influenced my style: Tomer and Asaf Hanuka, JC Leyendecker, Alphonse Mucha, Mangaka: Est Em, Natsume Ono, Yuki Urushibara
General works that have influenced my style: Secret of Kells (great movie), Eureka Seven, Baccano!,

Whoa...really?

For me,IMAGICA=verse is my first foray into comic making,mainly because i just want to draw Awesome looking magic girls!
Unlike the sailor moon/pretty cure type girls with cute outfit and mascot,my inspiration comes from the design of Hyperdimension Neptunia,Symphogear with those mecha looking weapons/armor outfits.
Although the "darker and mature" take on magic girls genre is mostly Madoka...i mean who doesn't even know Puella Magica?

Hello, my name is Anna and my 6,75 is inspired by wikipedia articles about serial killers, mental disorders and slavic demons. //shot
As for comic creation, my biggest inspiration is Full Metal Alchemist, because it's a perfect mix of humour, action and drama. And amazing characters creation, with each character have deferent posture and facial features. I wish my comic turn out to be somehow like that ; u;
Style-wise, I suppse the most inspiring for me were Hiromu Arakawa and Arina Tanemura, though I'm not sure if it actually can be seen in my drawings, haha~

As I am the illustrator for the comic, my influences affect the look and atmosphere of Haytham but sometimes the story too, since my sister is the writer (because we have similar tastes):

-Russian folklore
-Fantasy themed videogames, mainly Baten Kaitos Origins (favorite game ever)

Mmm, I guess I have a thing for works that appear light and warm on the outside but are pretty dark and psychological on the inside, when I came with the idea for my story I was reading Asano Inio's Oyasumi Punpun, I really liked it, and as I went on I came back to my core fundations, my main inspirations:

-Neon Genesis Evangelion (Hideaki Anno)
-Revolutionary Girl Utena (Kunihiko Ikuhara)
-Puella Magi Madoka Magica (Urobutcher/Akiyuki Shinbo)

All of them have this thing, they look nice a lovely on the 1st stage them turn freaking psychological and dark. A recent example of this could be what J.C Staff is doing with DanMachi, there are some parts that I say, daaaarn this has some darky/psychological undertones.

Then I just threw in a bunch of things I like in general: naked peeps, horror, surreal, absurdism... and the avant garde direction of Akiyuki Shinbo (mostly on Monogatari). And I fear I might get excited and make this ultra long, so I'll stop here.... 8_8

Baten Kaitos es un juegazo !!!!! I love em', both of them, Eternal wings and Origins, they are so great, the art and atmosphere, gameplay, todooo!, I even have a character named Giacomo in my story, hahahahahahaha =P . Also Yoshitaka Amano is one of the greats.

I really like the costume design of kenichi yoshida. I wanted to watch G Reco because of his designs but holyhell the pacing for the first few episodes. Also the pirate lady was a meanie ; - ;
