What will happened to your comic 20 years from now?

Not a comic, but if it doesn't get any recognition or promotion like the big names on the front pages, then I'll consider it a personal achievement to have finished my work.

They say there's 3 ways to immortality:
Plant a Tree
Bear a Son
Write a Novel

In that way you still get remembered
Who knows, maybe when you're gone that's the only time your work ever gets the recognition it deserves. Like the great artists of the past who never got the fame they deserve and who we now revere today.

Probably most people will have forgotten it, but a tiny handful of people reading whatever new thing I'm making who do remember it will never shut up about how I should make a sequel to it, or tell everyone that whatever new thing I'm making will never be as good as Errant. Sometimes somebody will read/play whatever new thing I make and go, "Hey, is this by the same person who made that old webcomic, Errant? Weird"

Hopefully it doesn't get lost like my last comic Barako the Pirate. No matter how crappy my webcomic is, I'm not gonna delete it from Tapas, I've learned my lesson. Never know what will happen to the hard drive I'm keeping my current comic on in the future. Sure, I'm gonna make backups this time, but there could be a house fire or something.

As for recognition? Lol. I'm half assing The Eye of Vyrius for a good reason. Even if you make a great looking webcomic with an amazing story, chances are nobody gonna care anyway.

Probably it will become some kind of hologram. The internet would also be some kind of hologram if it's still there at that time. 20 years is a big leep for mankind technologies, extraterrestrial joined technological advancements and breakthroughs by that time.

Both seems already forgotten, because I'm a slow drawer​. I can only hope that some of the readers I had remember it. And... if I'll have a child, I hope he/she will read them someday.

In the fantasy world in my head, there’s an animated/live action adaptation or another show that was inspired by it and I can sit there and feel cool while making whatever other story I have in my head, knowing that yeah, I did make that and people liked it that much .

But talking in terms of reality, it’ll most likely be lost in to the void of the internet, forgotten about pretty quickly and replaced by another media that my readers find, only remembered by my close friends and family lol.

In 20 years, I can see two possible outcome for my comic.

The first being the popularity success of the project after I completed the series and its' sister story (which I hope would be more popular than the main series). This outcome is a slim chance but it's possible.

Second outcome would be my comic not gaining any popularity due to the massive sea of other comics, hence when it completes it dies. I do think I can redirect people to read my old work if they are curious about the other stories that I have to tell, it's risky but possible.

Despite the two possible outcome there is a third one that I feel might be something many people consider a bad omen and that is me going to other worlds before I could finish tying the story into a bow. It's something I think about every now and again which is why I think it's important to keep my stories in documents in case anything like that happens. Like, you never know, not everyone lives long enough to tell their tale.

i plan to put it in bookstores and make at least an e-book out of it
but in 20 years idk, I still read comics from the 80s and 90s,
so hopefully people will still be reading mine.

or the second outcome is that I pitch it to an indie movie studio like I've always wanted but I'm prepared for rejection =w= it's better to try and say you did than not to try at all

Across all of the books I’ve been lucky enough to have published in the last decade I’ve sold tens of thousands of books so they’ll still be around. I have good library distribution too so they’ll probably stick around there for a while. I hope they will be seen as my “early work” and still be enjoyed at the very least as evidence of growth.

At every convention and book signing event I’ve ever done I get one or two people come up to me to tell me they still have a copy of my first self published comics and zines from ten years ago and sometimes they’ll bring them for me to sign and that’s a really nice feeling.

I plan on finishing the story in 5-6 years from now. So in the additional 15 years, IF the comic succeeds in gaining popularity and a small following. I'll consider remaking the comic in a much more detailed artstyle, and even try and start short, or even long animations based on the story, since I have quite the experience with animating. If all of this succeeds, it might, it might not, then I'll consider animating the entire series.

By then, I plan to be retired or remotely part-timing. The comic has a good chance of continuing, but the dogs involved will be different because my comic follows my dogs, and has already lightly touched on the loss of my brother's dog and the adoption of her successor. My two are 14 and 10, respectively, and I am already fretting over the inevitable.

Hopefully finished, with a printed version on my bookshelf. I'd like to use it to present at conventions, but in 20 years maybe other creative projects will be the main focus. Who knows ^^
