What would your character do? [Ancient Treasure Edition]

Since so many people enjoyed the haunted house one, I've decided to make another one of these threads.

This time, the situation is a little different. So, your character discovers an ancient treasure that was lost for centuries. What is it? And what does your character do with it?

In Genji's case, the ancient treasure will be the remains of a previous civilization that lived on one of the planets in his star system long before humans colonised that world. He would probably take a few things that he found interesting and then see whether he could sell the rest to a museum.

hiii, im glad to see you too. Well, there is necklace that will make appearance in novel pretty soon, it's the thing i previously said Dawn will use to protect herself. And since Aldric family (not brothers but family as a whole) is pretty old im sure they have quite a collection

I'd actually done a sketch based on this kind of concept with my "adventure squad"! (apologies for the roughness)

more than likely the treasure would be something connected to the old world like ancient manuscripts or some artifact connected to the old magicks (likely with the inclusion of some coin or old gemstones). As for what they'd do with it any document would be sent to one of the regional universities so it could be transcribed or translated and likely stuck in some museum or old archive. As for the artifact they'd maybe let the old scholars do a bit of research on it but keep it in their inventory for later (never know when those key items will come in use after all)

I'm gonna go ahead and say this is in an AU where the world didn't end and money still means something:

Agony: stares at the treasure for a full three and a half hours trying to figure out what to do with it
Thesis: uses it to fund research and be a hermit who doesn't have to talk to people
Duenna: donates it without thinking it through
Motif: stresses over what to do, decides someone else should find it, turns around and leaves
Sequel: is now a part of the treasure

Let's go with a chest full of loot for my characters:

Cinna: Would use the money to live a life of luxury.

Guy: He's doing some.....interesting (and expensive) things on the sidelines, so he would probably use the money gained from the treasure to fund his work, because no matter how he tries, he can't seem to convince the government to grant him some funding.

Becka: She would probably take the treasure chest to her room and endlessly obsess over what to do with that thing, without telling anyone.

Pom: He would hand the chest over to his family and that would be the end of it.

it's in development but a fantasy story focusing on a group of folks meeting over the mcs journey but subverting the whole fighting the "great evil" at the end and focusing more on exploration and facing conflicts as the come in kind of a monster/villain of the week sort of format

For Annalise, she will keep researching and try to interpret it and even write many articles about her findings and eventually go explore it herself. After that she will also sell most of what she finds to a museum and write a book.

Oh I see, so it's an adventure story that actually focuses on adventure and exploration rather than just on fighting the big bad? Jié Qiáng: "Open it..."

Yáng Ning: "YOU open it!"

Jié Qiáng: "I'm your prince. Open it!"

Yáng Ning: "Make Yǒng open it. He'll open anything."

Yǒng Wěi: leaning against the wall eating a loquat "It's your turn. I opened that forbidden box. I still have bruises and claw marks. Don't forget that evil cave! The beehive, too."

Mîn Jíng: walks in and goes directly to the door. Pulls out a key and unlocks the lock. Pulls out a basket of preserved tea and herbs, slips on the lock, leaves.

Yǒng Wěi: "Wait..."

Jié Qiáng smacks his head in realization "The lock is the ancient artifact!"

Yáng Ning: "Qiáng, your wife is weird!"
