Yes yes, the shipping are the best. I don't want to clarify anything my readers assume just because I like leaving people in the dark await the big reveal > : ))))

Well for me I'm new on here but the other comic site I was on I know some people stop updating for like 3 years and then upload 300+ new pages in a day and I forgot about them and didn't have the time or energy to figure out where the hell I was reading last and finally I just unsubscribed. I also unsub if someone does not update for like ages. I had to drop so many comics that hadn't updated in like 6 years on my other site.
I'm guessing people also unsub if the comic changes dramatically or does some weird shit no one expected or suddenly goes into hardcore x rated stuff no one wanted. Or just gets boring....

or as other people put it the creator is a douche.

I agree with @aronthemason, updating twice a week is not slow and once a week is perfectly acceptable. And for every person who would unfollow because of a slow update schedule there are others who don't mind.

If you have a detailed art style, it's better to update once a week at your own pace than burn yourself out worrying about people thinking the comic moves too slow!

I unsubscribed from a very nice comic because the authors were always rude and there was too much drama every week or so. It would've been fine if the authors just let the readers do their thing,
but once they get involved and start being rude to everyone, goodbye.
And I used to follow them on Tumblr too...but they're very condescending towards their fans, it sickened me...

That's terrible. I feel like creators should keep personal drama private from fans. Like only ever mention it if it's affecting your workflow and just send out a message like "Hey, it'll be quiet here for a while, going through some personal stuff. Hopefully you'll see new stuff from me soon!" Something like that.

It should depend on quality and time the author has. Just because something isn't insanely detailed doesn't mean they have a lot of time on their hands. Some people have a JOB or two or three. I myself have 3 jobs which is why I can only do one page a week. They aren't insanely detailed paintings, but my pencils can take a day or so, my inks a day or two and then my colors take a day. So that's 3-4 days to make a page balancing between my other jobs and the comic.

It's NOT far for anyone to be judging people on how lazy they are in updating based on the quality they post.

Now, if they are making a million updates a week with random artwork instead of pages, then I'd be concerned. But if you can't prove they are goofing off, you shouldn't be judging.

Recently I unfollowed a (actually quite good!) comic because I started reading the series pretty late and I couldn't read many pages in one go. I followed because after reading the prologue I thought "hey how cool!!" but I didn't find time to read the rest, and then came update after update and it was piling up even more. Usually it's no issue for me to binge-read comics & manga but this... I don't even know why. It just was very hard to concentrate after a few pages.

Well, this has happened to me and a lot. There was a time I was so stuck that every time I made an update I lost a subscriber and another one subscribed so I was like: 29 then 30 then 29 again then 30 then no, 29 again and so on; it was for about three months.

I think the problem was my constant change in style. I began very manga-ish and with time passing, my style turned more cartoon-ish so yeah, I think it was only natural for people who used to like the previous style to dislike the new one and unsubscribe.

tbh theres so many comics i need to unsub (Im All About Organization) but im far too lazy and theres so much clicking i need to do, like if on the reading list, tapastic had like an edit then select to unsub thatd be convenient...
but genrally unless the creator is an absolute ass then im not gonna unsub

Also, some people may still be subscribed to you, but I think they 'disappear' if they stop making their reading list public

I think updating your comic with dick pics is probably the fastest way to lose subscribers.

I can't help it... it's too easy.

But BL proves otherwise.
